  • Ferry St & Palisade Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
In this intersection between Ferry Street Palisade Ave has become to dangerous especially during daytime The cars make it a habit of parking consistently at the bus stops all day and over night during the day it has become very serious problem and has caused accidents already on top of that What do we plan on doing with this corner it's been on going suggesting traffic lights or something as well Please make this a priority especially with people just parking on that corner like it's nothing Same thing on Franklin Street as well t
  • Rose Ave & Long St Jersey City, NJ, 07305, USA - Greenville
This is a two way street traffic from all sides pedestrian students and seniors there's crossing signs on one side of the street not on the other in coming traffic a stop sign that everyone ignores should be blinking at all times no street name to divide the two streets no yield and upturns and hydrants in need of color
  • 1st St & Provost St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
Need crosswalks on all sides of the street (1st and Provost) here. Too dangerous and cars not stopping for stop signs. Crosswalks, pedestrian crossing signs, and speed bumps. It’s a very busy road especially with daycare children walking across the street going to the playgrounds.
  • 193 Summit Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - McGinley Square
The starting point of Baldwin Ave, where it splits from Summit Ave is a busy thoroughfare. This is a 3 way intersection where vehicles going north on Summit have to keep to the left of the road , those north on Baldwin have to keep to the right . In addition to this there is the traffic going South from both Baldwin and Summit. There is a pedestrian crossing in between this . A school bus also stops on Summit at this intersection to drop off the kids. Currently there is no traffic signal , STOP sign, School Bus Stop sign or proper street markings to regulate the pedestrian crossing. It will be really helpful if a proper sign and markings can be installed at this location.
  • Beacon Ave & Central Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - The Heights

There are no pedestrian signals at this intersection, yet there are 3 schools nearby.

There are poles on each of the four corners that can be used to mount pedestrian signals.

The additional wires needed may already exist. If not, additional wires could be pulled through the existing underground conduits.

  • Lembeck Ave & Romar Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07305, USA - Greenville
intersection of lembeck and romar needs better protection. this intersection is blocked by cars and pedestrians cannot cross. plus no enforcement of parking creates near misses and noise from horns.
  • Academy St & Van Reypen St Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - Journal Square
Can we get bollards here, or at least curb painting? No one respects the daylighting spaces.
  • 689 Marin Blvd Jersey City, New Jersey, 07310 - Downtown
Sidewalk on marin blvd between observer highway and 18th street on the western side are too tight.
There are often car park on the sidewalk forcing pedestrians to walk on the main road.
Signage on the sidewalk has been hit by bus trying to make a turn from observer highway going southbound on Marin blvd.
  • Central Ave At Griffith St Jersey City, NJ 07307, USA - The Heights
Griffith St and Central Ave has a dog leg intersection. cars absolutely zoom through it unaware it's a crossing. we could use one of those button signals to light up a sign like we have on Summit Ave. it's truly dangerous because cars stop in front of the donut shop, or usually don't, and similarly, they stop and then run through the crossing from the other side.

Union St & West Side Ave Jersey City, New Jersey, 07304 - West Side
So they finally put up delineators on Union and Westside. But they did not finish them.
Cars are still blocking the crosswalk.
  • 81-87 North St Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights

What can be done about pedestrian safety on the streets bordering Washington Park?

I’ve almost been run over by reckless drivers multiple occasions while using the crosswalks on North Street at Central Ave and Cambridge Ave. I fear my toddler and and I will actually be killed one of these days.

Cars do not slow down when turning left from Central onto North Street, and they do not bother to look for pedestrians in the crosswalk.

The stop sign at the intersection of Cambridge Ave and North St is not very visible due to tree branches and the way building shadows fall during the day. If a car DOES happen to come to a full stop, it will then have to pull far into the intersection to see oncoming traffic because of the parked cars on North St blocking the view. So you have drivers still looking left while they are turning right, and thus they are not always watching for pedestrians in that crosswalk.

These kinds of incidents happen in the crosswalks on Paterson Plank Rd as well. Cars turning right often roll through the stoplight at Webster Ave, and the crosswalk is offset in such a way that makes it difficult for cars to see and pedestrians to gauge this oncoming traffic from behind.

The length of the pedestrian crossing signal in the middle of Washington Park is extremely short, despite the crosswalk being used by caregivers with young children and strollers heading to the playground — give them more time to safely cross the street!

  • 69 Montgomery St Jersey City 07302, United States - The Waterfront
USPS trucks enter and exit this driveway off of and onto Montgomery. Visibility of trucks exiting onto Montgomery when walking west on the sidewalk is nearly zero for pedestrians. Additionally, visibility for egressing trucks is equally as bad and observed trucks typically do not stop before moving over the sidewalk. This is a safety concern for pedestrians and USPS employees alike. There should be some additional signaling (e.g. flashing lights, sound emitting device, etc…) to indicate that a truck is exiting. This area has high foot traffic including small children and pets. This should be addressed before someone gets seriously injured or worse.
