  • Speed Hump RequestAcknowledged
109-117 Woodward St Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - Bergen-Lafayette
People speed down Woodward from Communipaw to Bramhall South to the dead end. Dangerous. A crosswalk needs to also be considered. Also, people use Bramhall as a cut through street from Communipaw frequently so for park pedestrian safety, we request you consider making Bramhall a one way.
  • Belmont Ave & Crescent Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - McGinley Square
Requesting a traffic study to see if we can get a crosswalk on Belmont Ave near the intersection with Crescent Ave (maybe where the fire hydrant is so as not to further reduce parking spots). Kids cross the street to get to PS 12 and Lincoln HS, and it’s really dangerous because cars are accelerating after going over the speed hump and generally are not looking for pedestrians.
  • 238 Pine St Jersey City, NJ 07304, USA - Bergen-Lafayette
Pine St between Johnston and Communipaw is now routinely being using as a cut through to avoid lights to the east and west. Adjacent blocks have speed humps.
  • 838 Grand St Jersey City NJ 07304, United States - Bergen-Lafayette
Cars turning left from Bramhall Ave to Grand St are constantly ignoring pedestrians crossing Grand St. Please install cameras and fine drivers not letting pedestrians cross first.
  • Central Ave & Poplar St Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights

There have been multiple safety complaints and requests for something to address the lack of awareness to crosswalks around this area. With the increase in motor vehicle traffic with the change in the neighborhood, a traffic safety study is needed.

Despite these multiple reports for this need since 2020 (or even earlier), nothing has been done. Please also take into consideration the complete waste of money that did nothing but attempt (and fail) to take away parking as a solution.

Unfortunately, taking away parking to increase safety is not practicable if there’s nowhere else for the cars to go. As you see, the cars will apparently drive right over anything meant to keep them out. If a massive change is being done, please allocate law enforcement or parking authority staff for extra hours for the first week or so or place giant LED signs indicating the change to a no-parking zone. We can reasonably anticipate this kind of reaction in the future, so we should be proactive, not reactive. This way, money we all spend as renters and homeowners that get allocated towards taxes will not be wasted. Thank you.

  • 76-198 Irving St Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
A constituent called to report that cars constantly speed through Irving Street between Nelson Avenue and JFK Blvd. They would like for something to be done to address this speeding concern.
  • Delaware Ave & Gautier Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - West Side
Cars are constantly turning right on Delaware Avenue off Gautier Avenue. Delaware Avenue is a one way street, this poses safety concerns for children and everyone else. Something needs to be done, this occurs throughout the day on a daily basis.
  • 18th St & Jersey Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07310, USA - Downtown
Thers needs to be a left turn arrow installed at the intersection of 18th st and Jersey Ave. Traffic heading North on Jersey Ave from East bound 18th st is constantly backed up as only 4-5 cars can make a left turn in a cycle. There have been several hundred apartments built in this immediate area and the time has come for this common sense solution
  • Bevan St & St Pauls Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - Journal Square
The corner of Bevan & St Paul’s is extremely unsafe. I commute everyday and have almost been hit by speeding cars once or twice a month at least because cars speed through the cross walk to cut onto 139 asap driving east (from JFK) down Saint Paul’s street. There’s SO MANY kids that commute to school through this intersection that live in the st pauls condos and surrounding area, it’s truthfully so unsafe. As a pregnant woman it’s scary even more for me now can only imagine what it’s like for a family with several kids / stroller.
