Traffic/Pedestrian Safety Study RequestsAcknowledged194 Wayne St Jersey City NJ 07302, United States - DowntownWayne Street between Monmouth Street and Brunswick Street is considered an Access Easement, but drivers frequently use it as a shortcut to skip the traffic light at Monmouth and Columbus Drive or a shortcut from Brunswick to Monmouth to avoid the traffic light at Montgomery Street. Drivers frequently race down this narrow access easement at high speeds. Previous signage indicating the status of Wayne Street is old and illegible at this point. Please consider posting new signage of the status of Wayne St., multiple speed bumps / humps, a reduced speed limit of 10 or 15mph, and additional enforcement.

Traffic/Pedestrian Safety Study RequestsAcknowledged443 Ogden Ave Jersey City 07307, United States - The HeightsSomething like 30-50 / hr buses try to squeeze through the block of Congress between Paterson Plank and Palisade—plus hundreds of vehicles and pedestrians. The onstreet parking of 20 cars should be banned during the morning rush. It makes difficult for buses to turn and reduces visibility of pedestrians at crosswalks. This would be a minor inconvenience for 20 people easing travel for thousands.

Traffic: Curb Extension/Daylighting RequestAcknowledged380 Newark Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtowncrosswalk is in serious disrepair. See SCF case 9804986 for the picture. delineators are also down

Traffic/Pedestrian Safety Study RequestsAcknowledged187 Christopher Columbus Dr Jersey City 07302, United States - DowntownSomething needs to be done to slow the traffic and acceleration of vehicles traveling west on Columbus. Once they get through the congestion at Grove and pass Jersey Ave, drivers rapidly accelerate and speed from Jersey Ave west past Varick, Monmouth and Brunswick. It’s increasingly dangerous, not to mention a noise nuisance.

Traffic/Pedestrian Safety Study RequestsAcknowledged2nd St & Warren St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - DowntownAt this crossword, there are stop signs for cars but they routinely ignore it. Additionally, the street doesn’t have lane delineations and is wide, so even if a car does stop for a pedestrian, other cars swerve and go around it without realizing there is a crosswalk.

Traffic/Pedestrian Safety Study RequestsAcknowledged273–289 Johnston Ave Jersey City 07304, United States - Bergen-LafayetteVisibility issue at the corner of Garabrant St. & Johnston Ave. The very large construction trucks/vans make it impossible to see incoming traffic.

Pedestrian Safety Study RequestAcknowledgedGrand St & Van Vorst St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - DowntownThere are cars constantly parked blocking the pedestrian cross in Van Vorst St and Grand St this is a safety issue for all the kids that go to the schools in the area I understand from the crossing officer that this are cars owned by people that work in the firefighter house and that's the reasons enforcement doesn't take care of the issue If that is the case, it is unfortunate that they don't lead by example, and other measures should be take to protect the pedestrians at this corner

Pedestrian Safety Study RequestAcknowledged401–489 Pavonia Ave Jersey City NJ 07306, United States - Journal SquareToday a car almost hit my husband in the corner of Newark and Pavonia. They driver was texting and he didn't Stop ( there is a Stop sign). Please add a Traffic light here or one of those small lights you have all over Newark. This is very dangerous, and hundreds of people cross this street everyday

Pedestrian Safety Study RequestAcknowledged461 Newark Ave Jersey City NJ 07306, United States - Journal SquareAnother major accident at this deeply unsafe section of newark avenue. Everything about this hill tells drivers "speed up." We need serious traffic calming measures to make them slow down. It's a lot better than it used to be, but this stretch has a ways to go before it's actually safe for pedestrians, not to mention an actually pleasant and useful urban space.

Evertrust Plz & Montgomery St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
Today (3/11) morning at 8.30 am I was about to witness a tragedy. A group of school kids were were waiting to cross with their parents in front of 270 Marin Blvd, Jersey City, 07302. Shown with #1 in image. There is walk sign shown in #2, but car drivers never obey it. A little girl from the group ran forward to spot#3 in image and car came speeding from direction of #4 arrow and the girl almost hit the car. This is very dangerous crossing where a tragic accident is waiting to happen. Last month I witnessed a car accident at the same spot when a car exiting 270 Marin Blvd was hit by another car coming from direction of #4 arrow.
There is street parking very close to crossing as shown in #5 in image. People waiting for crossing at spot#1 can't see car without going dangerously close to spot#3 and car drivers can't see people and don't slow down to obey crossing sign. Please take care of the situation.
Some suggestions -
1. Remove parking spot shown in #5 in image so that there is more visibility
2. Install flashing walk sign much before spot #2 so that car drivers have time spot it and slow down
3. Paint signs on road or install speed hump -
Traffic/Pedestrian Safety Study RequestsAcknowledgedErie St & Pavonia Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
Hi - I am a longtime resident and mom living in Hamilton Park. I’d like to request that the corner of Erie and Pavonia (but really all corners around Cordero) receive the white parking towers that prevent people from parking in the crosswalks.
Two weeks ago after checking repeatedly, a woman who was parked very close to the crosswalk in the location attached hit me and my 6 week old son who was in his bassinet. Last week, I saw it happen again to someone else.
Both times happened after normal school hours, but during Casper after care. I believe installing the white parking towers would prevent possible tragedy by giving a buffer between parked cars and pedestrians. They’re in many other locations in our neighborhood and it seems that surrounding the school should be a priority.
That specific crosswalk does not even have pedestrian signage. Just the crosswalk.
Thank you.
