Today (3/11) morning at 8.30 am I was about to witness a tragedy. A group of school kids were were waiting to cross with their parents in front of 270 Marin Blvd, Jersey City, 07302. Shown with #1 in image. There is walk sign shown in #2, but car drivers never obey it. A little girl from the group ran forward to spot#3 in image and car came speeding from direction of #4 arrow and the girl almost hit the car. This is very dangerous crossing where a tragic accident is waiting to happen. Last month I witnessed a car accident at the same spot when a car exiting 270 Marin Blvd was hit by another car coming from direction of #4 arrow.

There is street parking very close to crossing as shown in #5 in image. People waiting for crossing at spot#1 can't see car without going dangerously close to spot#3 and car drivers can't see people and don't slow down to obey crossing sign. Please take care of the situation.

    Some suggestions -
    1. Remove parking spot shown in #5 in image so that there is more visibility
    2. Install flashing walk sign much before spot #2 so that car drivers have time spot it and slow down
    3. Paint signs on road or install speed hump

  • 63 Sherman Pl Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
The intersection of Sherman Place and Summit is perilous for pedestrians because cars race between the traffic lights at Manhattan and Hutton Streets. Drivers rarely stop for us when trying to cross, even when holding the hands of our children. There was yet another accident on Saturday when a car driving from Manhattan Ave to Hutton hit a car that was trying to make a left onto Summit — which is never easy. We need this intersection to become a 3-way Stop. The city added signs to stop for pedestrians a couple of years ago but the cars knocked them over and they were removed. It’s dangerous and unfair. I’ve lived her for 18 years and it only gets worse.
  • 13 Ravine Ave Jersey City, NJ 07307, USA - The Heights
Please extend curbs on the south side of Ravine at New York. the crossing distance is very long and the turning radius is very wide.
  • 401–489 Pavonia Ave Jersey City NJ 07306, United States - Journal Square
Today a car almost hit my husband in the corner of Newark and Pavonia. They driver was texting and he didn't Stop ( there is a Stop sign). Please add a Traffic light here or one of those small lights you have all over Newark. This is very dangerous, and hundreds of people cross this street everyday
  • Sip Ave At Garrison Ave Jersey City, NJ 07306, USA - Journal Square

There are two crosswalks here, and Sip is a busy road. People are constantly speeding down the hill from JFK and almost hitting people in the crosswalk

Is there any sort of traffic calming that can be added here?

  • Arlington Ave & Harmon St Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - Bergen-Lafayette
Cars do not stop at the crosswalk for pedestrians at the corner of Arlington Ave. and Harmon St. The stop sign is hidden and not visible.
  • 225 Newark Ave Jersey City 07302, United States - Downtown
We need curb extensions at every intersection along our major commercial streets otherwise every crosswalk just ends up illegal parking.
  • 184 Morgan St Jersey City, NJ 07302, USA - Downtown

Traffic on Columbus and Marin is a headache and a hazard during rush hour and now with all the construction on Marin its becoming a nightmare.

    Have you thought about
    1. directing cars coming onto Morgan street between Marin and Newark to Newark Avenue
    2. directing cars coming onto Morgan street between Marin and Warren to Warren Street.
    3. By doing this you can remove the light on Marin/Morgan which will eliminate the backup on Columbus

    just a thought

  • 207 Van Vorst St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
When the building permits for the Lenox and the Maddox were issued by the city (circa 2016), the neighbors in house nearby requested a traffic study on Van Vorst for the increased vehicles. It's now 2022 and no changes have been made to the flow of vehicle traffic on Van Vorst (between Sussex and Morris Street. There is currently parking on both side of the street and two-way traffic. There isn’t room for 4 cars on Van Vorst and it's worse when there are larger delivery and food trucks parked at the intersection. Cars frequently cannot turn onto the street and are forced to back up into traffic. Visibility turning onto Morris is poor which creates dangerous conditions for pedestrians. The street can support only three cars, so either it should be turned into a one-way street or parking eliminated from one side.
  • 461 Newark Ave Jersey City NJ 07306, United States - Journal Square
Another major accident at this deeply unsafe section of newark avenue. Everything about this hill tells drivers "speed up." We need serious traffic calming measures to make them slow down. It's a lot better than it used to be, but this stretch has a ways to go before it's actually safe for pedestrians, not to mention an actually pleasant and useful urban space.
  • 18 Park View Ave Jersey City, NJ 07302, USA - Downtown
Knucklehead drivers or deliverers knocked these down.
  • Grove St & Wayne St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
Please consider making the right turn from wayne onto grove NO TURN ON RED. Right turn is the only option for cars at this intersection. During a red light, drivers look to their left (but have trouble seeing oncoming cars from grove because of the parked cars there) but as a result do not look to their right whatsoever for pedestrians or bikes who have a green light.
