  • Jewett Ave & Summit Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - McGinley Square
Cars from both directions regularly turn into this street at a fast speed, not yielding for pedestrians at the crosswalk, many of whom are children headed to the recently built community park.
  • Pavonia Ave & Summit Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - Journal Square

This is a 5-way intersection where Central Ave. originates at Pavonia and Summit.

This intersection does NOT have accessible pedestrian signal (APS) pushbuttons for the visually impaired.

The 10 existing pushbuttons do NOT control the 10 pedestrian walk signals. Those are on "pedestrian recall" and operate during every traffic cycle.

There are 5 audible signals at the intersection, of which only 2 work. They are on the bottom of pedestrian signals and look like black hockey pucks. The two working signals are on the NORTHWEST and SOUTHEAST corners.

During the WALK phase for crossing Summit and Central, a voice says "Walk sign is on to cross" about 3 times and then stops. There is no audible voice for the countdown during the DON'T WALK phase. There is no audible voice for crossing Pavonia.

These outdated audible signals and the non-working old pushbuttons should be REPLACED with modern APS pushbuttons like those at:

  • Bramhall Ave & Garfield Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - Bergen-Lafayette
This food truck is on this corner almost every day and although it's parked legally, because of the size of the truck, it obstructs pedestrians from drivers before the crosswalk. This is already a very dangerous crosswalk that we citizens have attempted to bring attention to but we've been told the city is waiting until something tragic happens to change it The poles need to be moved back so that the truck moves back, right now it's making a very dangerous crosswalk even more dangerous.
  • Palisade Ave & Reservoir Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
Cars park too close to corner. Bumpout Needed
  • Old Bergen Rd At Winfield Ave Jersey City, NJ 07305, USA - Greenville
The intersection of Winfield and Old Bergen Rd. desperately needs stop signs, a traffic signal, or a speed bump. Cars speed dangerously down Old Bergen Rd at all hours as the entire stretch from Merritt St to Bartholdi has no traffic signals, stop signs, speed bumps, etc. The Winfield intersection is particularly vulnerable as residents, including children and those with pets, trying to cross into or out of Columbia Park face very dangerous conditions. These conditions also include cars turning left on to Old Bergen Rd. from Bartholdi when those cars catch the green light. Knowing there's no stop sign or speed bump there, cars turn left on to Old Bergen Rd at or above the speed limit with low visibility. if you're a pedestrian crossing Old Bergen Rd those left-turning cars are an additional hazard that are not visible and can't be anticipated.
  • 135 New York Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights

Is it possible for the city to completely ban huge trucks to pass in this area? First, the streets are narrow and no such truck should be allowed in this residential areas.
Second, the trucks make a lot of noise when hitting the speed humps because they dont even stop and just fly over them.
Third, these huge trucks create a lot of traffic. Last week, one of them was stuck because it could not make the turn due to narrow streets.

It is the city's duty to put the appropriate signs so the drivers of these trucks are aware before even entering an area.

It is imperative that the city makes the life of its citizens SAFE and STRESSLESS.

  • 10th St & Marin Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
The ped walk here is ignored completely. Need to have the flashing ped walk indicator like there is on 6th now
  • Pershing Plz Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - The Heights
The street between the park and reservoir (howie fink way) should be closed to cars. It is one way, next to the playground and cars are very close to the playing children, often speeding. Please close this road to cars or at least install speed bumps.
  • 50-98 New York Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
Cars are frequently parked on the sidewalk, completely obstructing the path. At the curve where the sidewalk narrows, this forces pedestrians into the street day after day. Today, while pushing a stroller with a baby, we had to wait for traffic to clear, and the driver who had parked on the sidewalk became aggressive when we politely asked them not to block the path. I understand that there is a site entrance there, but this is one of the few accesses from downtown to the Heights. Can a removable barrier be placed?
  • 685-689 Marin Blvd Jersey City, New Jersey, 07310 - Downtown
Requesting a speed bump be installed to slow both directions of traffic Southbound in particular a majority of cars exceed the speed limit by the time the are in front of 689 Marin Blvd No other measures taken by JC to date have effectively slowed the speed of traffic
  • Herbert Pl Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - Journal Square
Can the city investigate the safety conditions on Herbert place for pedestrians. The sidewalks are VERY narrow. To the point where two people can not pass each other and need to step into the street. This matter is made even more concerning as it is a very very common place for cars to park on the sidewalk. This is a constant every day occurrence. and hundreds of people use this route to get the the JSQ bus terminal and path station everyday. The parking lot often encroaches on the right of way.
  • Jersey Ave & Montgomery St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
Drivers don’t respect pedestrians while crossing the street. They make right or left turns without giving priority to the pedestrians in spite of the pedestrians having the green light. Both me and my wife have been very close to get run over several times.
