  • Christopher Columbus Dr & Marin Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
The left signal turning from Columbus onto Marin coming from Grove Street was apparently intentionally turned off to allow more time for people to drive across Columbus. This makes it basically impossible to turn left onto Marin, as you have to cross two lanes of traffic, wait for Marin to clear, and wait for any pedestrians in the cross-walk. It often takes one car two full cycles to turn left through the intersection. It should be turned back on and the whole cycle should be lengthened to solve both problems.
  • Grand St & Jersey Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
With the recent explosion of traffic on Jersey Ave due to the direct link to Liberty State Park, the intersection at Jersey Av and Grand St has turned into a nightmare. There need to be dedicated green lights for turning left as well as dedicated safe crossing time for pedestrians instead of having to negotiate with frustrated drivers turning left. Big safety issue and very disappointing that the city did not address this before opening the floodgates.

Bramhall Ave & Pacific Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - Bergen-Lafayette
Can the people of Pacific Avenue get a stop sign at Bramhall to stop the speeding traffic and dangerous cars? There have been numerous accidents including several hit and runs because of speed and out-of-control vehicles. The city could make a fortune if they enforced the speed limit. We've asked for a speed bump but were told no because emergency vehicle use.
  • Booraem Ave & Central Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
There needs to be a stop light on the corner of booraem and central crossing into Pershing park. Over the weekend my partner and two dogs almost got hit by a reckless driver while crossing central in the crosswalk at noon!! This isn’t the first time almost been hit 3-4 times last few months!! It’s also difficult to make a left turn from Booraem onto central at that intersection because it’s blind. Cars are always speeding excessively. If there’s a stoplight at prospect and central which has much less foot traffic why not booraem and central? Many families are so scared to cross the street here because people do not stop! The current lighting there does absolutely nothing to stop these cars when people are crossing. Please do something before people get seriously hurt!!
  • New York Ave & Palisade Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
Please install curb extensions at Palisade and Booraem. The opening is extremely wide causing pedestrians to be in the street for too long and allowing cars to turn at high speed.
  • John F Kennedy Blvd & Journal Sq Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - Journal Square

As a result of the construction start on the Kushner towers on the east side of Bergen Ave. & JFK Boulevard at Journal Square, pedestrians have been pushed off the sidewalk into a narrow 5-ft. path. Complaints to Hudson County resulted in widening the path between the north crosswalk and the PATH station and setting back the construction fence at the two crosswalks.

This is being posted on both the Hudson County and Jersey City SeeClickFix websites because both have jurisdiction over the pedestrian walkway. Jersey City is responsible for the south crosswalk and Bergen Ave. Hudson County is responsible for the north crosswalk and JFK Boulevard.

The flimsy 6-ft. plastic barriers installed along the east side of the intersection will never stop an errant car traveling at 40MPH. There are (20) 6-ft. barriers spanning from south of the south crosswalk to north of the north crosswalk. This is where pedestrians are most vulnerable to errant cars turning left to proceed northbound on JFK Boulevard and where they have the least protection.

NONE of the plastic barriers are completely filled with water. 10 are maybe 2/3 full and the other 10 are empty. These barriers are supposed to be interlocked and pinned together through the holes in the ends. I counted a total of 6 pins.

Most of the empty 6-ft. barriers can be moved out of place by shoving them sideways. This will not protect pedestrians from an errant vehicle. ALL of these flimsy barriers should be replaced by NJ concrete barriers.

On the east side of the intersection, the north and south crosswalks are 12’ wide. The distance between them is 80’. At the north side of the north crosswalk, the south 6-ft. plastic barrier blocks 3’6” of the crosswalk. At the south side of the south crosswalk, the north 6-ft. plastic barrier blocks 9” of the crosswalk.

The Kushner contractor only used 20-ft. NJ concrete barriers. 10-ft. and 12-ft NJ barriers are readily available. The contractor must be compelled to install NJ concrete barriers along the entire length of the pedestrian walkway without restricting the width of the crosswalks.

  • Christopher Columbus Dr & Jersey Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
For driving south on Jersey Avenue at the Christopher Columbus Drive intersection, there is a desperate need for a left turn traffic light. There is a day care at 532 Jersey Avenue so there are a lot of parents dropping off their children on Jersey Avenue. And Jersey Avenue is a very busy road. When drivers are going south on Jersey Avenue and want to turn left on Christopher Columbus Drive there are too many cars going straight from the opposite direction (driving north on Jersey Avenue) so the drivers trying to turn left are stuck and usually have to try to force their way in. This is very dangerous and I have already seen numerous almost accidents. And, often times there are parents and children crossing Christopher Columbus Drive that almost get hit because the driver on Jersey Avenue trying to turn left is trying to rush to make it before the next car going straight reaches them. It is a very dangerous intersection and I think it needs a left turn signal.
  • Ferry St & Palisade Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
Even with the pedestrian signs drivers do not slow down. When you cross the street that yell at pedestrians like we are in the wrong crossing when we have the right away and it is state law. Also, very often someone is parking on the crosswalk right in from of Lofi making it unsafe to cross. Please but protectors on the crosswalk and also put a pedestrian sign in the middle of the road too so slow down motorists and let pedestrians go.
  • Grace St & Nelson Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights

I am asking for Stop Signs on Nelson Avenue at Locations of Hague Street, Leonard, Graham, and others to improve street crosswalk for pedestrians. It's a safety hazard for people to cross on Nelson Avenue at Leonard Street, Graham, and others due to cars driving by. Pedestrians usually have to wait a long time before they can cross and it's still a safety issue.

Maybe Stop Signs are needed at these crosswalk locations on Nelson Avenue. Also keep in mind that Public School 27 is few blocks away so having these Stop Signs on Nelson will help crosswalk safety for pedestrians for all people especially school children. The City Inspector needs to determine whether STOP Signs are needed at the locations, Speed Humps, or traffic lights. Thank you!

  • Baldwin Ave & Fleet St Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - The Heights
Drivers consistently park their vehicles too close to the crosswalk at Fleet St and Baldwin. Please install curb extensions to prevent this behavior and enhance pedestrian safety.

Grand St & Washington St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - The Waterfront
My children are bussed from PS 16 to Danforth. I am becoming increasingly concerned with the lack of a safe area for the numerous buses to pull over on Grand and Washington. Every morning and afternoon the buses gridlock the street, and create major traffic because there is not adequate parking for the 6 plus buses that are needed to facilitate getting these spillover children to their Danforth school. Children are forced to walk into the street to get to their double parked buses- it's an accident waiting to happen. How do we go about removing residential street parking on Washington Street from Grand to Sussex to help with this issue? If you stop allowing residents to park on Washington in front os PS 16, it will greatly expedite the bus situation and make things MUCH safer for pedestrians and drivers in that area.
  • 671 Palisade Ave Union City 07307, United States - The Heights
Based on today’s death but also on general experience please study the safety of pedestrian crossings on this street
