Christopher Columbus Dr & Marin Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - DowntownThe left signal turning from Columbus onto Marin coming from Grove Street was apparently intentionally turned off to allow more time for people to drive across Columbus. This makes it basically impossible to turn left onto Marin, as you have to cross two lanes of traffic, wait for Marin to clear, and wait for any pedestrians in the cross-walk. It often takes one car two full cycles to turn left through the intersection. It should be turned back on and the whole cycle should be lengthened to solve both problems.

Grand St & Jersey Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - DowntownWith the recent explosion of traffic on Jersey Ave due to the direct link to Liberty State Park, the intersection at Jersey Av and Grand St has turned into a nightmare. There need to be dedicated green lights for turning left as well as dedicated safe crossing time for pedestrians instead of having to negotiate with frustrated drivers turning left. Big safety issue and very disappointing that the city did not address this before opening the floodgates.

Ask a QuestionGodkändBramhall Ave & Pacific Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - Bergen-LafayetteCan the people of Pacific Avenue get a stop sign at Bramhall to stop the speeding traffic and dangerous cars? There have been numerous accidents including several hit and runs because of speed and out-of-control vehicles. The city could make a fortune if they enforced the speed limit. We've asked for a speed bump but were told no because emergency vehicle use.

Emory St & Monticello Ave Jersey City, New Jersey, 07304 - McGinley SquareIt would be great to have flashing crossing signs near this busy intersection. This morning at 7AM I was crossing with my son and a car traveling towards us sped up so my son had to jump out of the way. It was at least half a block away when we stepped on the crossing. If the driver had been going the correct speed, they probably wouldn't have even needed to stop for us. Monticello Avenue is like a racetrack sometimes and it's very scary for all the school kids trying to get across this busy street. There are multiple schools around and it gets very busy with pedestrians.

Grace St & Nelson Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
I am asking for Stop Signs on Nelson Avenue at Locations of Hague Street, Leonard, Graham, and others to improve street crosswalk for pedestrians. It's a safety hazard for people to cross on Nelson Avenue at Leonard Street, Graham, and others due to cars driving by. Pedestrians usually have to wait a long time before they can cross and it's still a safety issue.
Maybe Stop Signs are needed at these crosswalk locations on Nelson Avenue. Also keep in mind that Public School 27 is few blocks away so having these Stop Signs on Nelson will help crosswalk safety for pedestrians for all people especially school children. The City Inspector needs to determine whether STOP Signs are needed at the locations, Speed Humps, or traffic lights. Thank you!

Johnston Ave & Pine St Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - Bergen-Lafayette
The intersection of Pine and Johnston is extremely dangerous: limited sight distance, cars racing to making lights, excessive traffic from the bridge closing, poor crossing marking. This intersection would benefit greatly from simple changes like crossing lights to warn drivers of crossing, better markings, and a speed bump on Pine. However in the long-term, JC should consider a slow streets design the changes the street from a straight un-obstructed street to a street with intentional obstructions to slow traffic at intersections (e.g., circular planter in the middle of the intersection).
As this neighborhood grows, so will pedestrian traffic and JC needs be proactive about pedestrian safety.
This is also a major bike route for local residents, and desperately needs protected bike lanes.

Booraem Ave & Central Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The HeightsThere needs to be a stop light on the corner of booraem and central crossing into Pershing park. Over the weekend my partner and two dogs almost got hit by a reckless driver while crossing central in the crosswalk at noon!! This isn’t the first time almost been hit 3-4 times last few months!! It’s also difficult to make a left turn from Booraem onto central at that intersection because it’s blind. Cars are always speeding excessively. If there’s a stoplight at prospect and central which has much less foot traffic why not booraem and central? Many families are so scared to cross the street here because people do not stop! The current lighting there does absolutely nothing to stop these cars when people are crossing. Please do something before people get seriously hurt!!

Monticello Ave & Communipaw Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - Bergen-LafayetteAt this intersection, I'm requesting if it's possible to make all left turns delayed with ample timing. In morning rush hours, the left
turn lane signal turns from green to red too quick as well as vehicles using left lane to go straight so not to wait in traffic.

Parking issuesGodkändGrand St & Washington St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - The WaterfrontMy children are bussed from PS 16 to Danforth. I am becoming increasingly concerned with the lack of a safe area for the numerous buses to pull over on Grand and Washington. Every morning and afternoon the buses gridlock the street, and create major traffic because there is not adequate parking for the 6 plus buses that are needed to facilitate getting these spillover children to their Danforth school. Children are forced to walk into the street to get to their double parked buses- it's an accident waiting to happen. How do we go about removing residential street parking on Washington Street from Grand to Sussex to help with this issue? If you stop allowing residents to park on Washington in front os PS 16, it will greatly expedite the bus situation and make things MUCH safer for pedestrians and drivers in that area.

Hopkins Ave & Palisade Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - The HeightsThe crosswalks on Hopkins Ave at Palisade Ave are constantly blocked by Dunkin Donuts customers. Because they are parked their for a short time each individual driver knows that they are very unlikely to be ticketed. However, so many people do it that as a pedestrian it feels like the crosswalk is always blocked. Drivers also roll through the crosswalk very fast especially if they are turning right. Curb extensions here would slow down turning drivers, improve sightlines for everyone involved and prevent blocking the crosswalk.

Bay St & Marin Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
Thank you for adding pedestrian lights to this intersection. Unfortunately, drivers around here are brazen and it’s not enough.
They do not stop for pedestrians with the lights flashing. And if you’re in a vehicle crossing Marin from Bay Street, good luck! You have to pull out into the middle of Marin to see around parked cars, and then pray someone in both directions stop due to a constant flow of traffic on both sides. Also, when there’s a red light a block away on either side, cars block the intersection for both cars and pedestrians. Doesn’t make sense that there isn’t a light here as well.
I’ve almost been hit as a pedestrian multiple times. And I’ve witnessed car accidents due to the blind spots in this intersection.
It continues to get more unsafe as the population on Marin grows, especially given this is flanked by 351 Marin and the Hendrix. Will only get worse with the two new condo buildings going up on Bay and Provost.
Thank you for your consideration.

Ferry St & Palisade Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The HeightsEven with the pedestrian signs drivers do not slow down. When you cross the street that yell at pedestrians like we are in the wrong crossing when we have the right away and it is state law. Also, very often someone is parking on the crosswalk right in from of Lofi making it unsafe to cross. Please but protectors on the crosswalk and also put a pedestrian sign in the middle of the road too so slow down motorists and let pedestrians go.
