  • Christopher Columbus Dr & Marin Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
The left signal turning from Columbus onto Marin coming from Grove Street was apparently intentionally turned off to allow more time for people to drive across Columbus. This makes it basically impossible to turn left onto Marin, as you have to cross two lanes of traffic, wait for Marin to clear, and wait for any pedestrians in the cross-walk. It often takes one car two full cycles to turn left through the intersection. It should be turned back on and the whole cycle should be lengthened to solve both problems.
  • Bramhall Ave & Pacific Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - Bergen-Lafayette
Can the people of Pacific Avenue get a stop sign at Bramhall to stop the speeding traffic and dangerous cars? There have been numerous accidents including several hit and runs because of speed and out-of-control vehicles. The city could make a fortune if they enforced the speed limit. We've asked for a speed bump but were told no because emergency vehicle use.
  • Grand St & Jersey Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
With the recent explosion of traffic on Jersey Ave due to the direct link to Liberty State Park, the intersection at Jersey Av and Grand St has turned into a nightmare. There need to be dedicated green lights for turning left as well as dedicated safe crossing time for pedestrians instead of having to negotiate with frustrated drivers turning left. Big safety issue and very disappointing that the city did not address this before opening the floodgates.
  • Grace St & Nelson Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights

I am asking for Stop Signs on Nelson Avenue at Locations of Hague Street, Leonard, Graham, and others to improve street crosswalk for pedestrians. It's a safety hazard for people to cross on Nelson Avenue at Leonard Street, Graham, and others due to cars driving by. Pedestrians usually have to wait a long time before they can cross and it's still a safety issue.

Maybe Stop Signs are needed at these crosswalk locations on Nelson Avenue. Also keep in mind that Public School 27 is few blocks away so having these Stop Signs on Nelson will help crosswalk safety for pedestrians for all people especially school children. The City Inspector needs to determine whether STOP Signs are needed at the locations, Speed Humps, or traffic lights. Thank you!

  • Monticello Ave & Emory St Jersey City, New Jersey, 07304 - McGinley Square
This intersection is becoming increasingly dangerous for pedestrians. I urge the city to perform a traffic study between the hours of 7AM-9AM on weekdays. Before the school traffic starts to build up, the road is like a race track, with cars speeding through, mostly coming from Communipaw. It is impossible to get any car to stop at the crossings during this hour. When kids are crossing during the 8AM hour, the crossing guard does an amazing job here, but traffic needs to be slowed down overall. After seeing the success of traffic calming at the other end of Monticello, I would suggest a stop sign before Emory (coming from Communipaw side) and before Astor Place (coming from Montgomery side). Downtown has stop signs at almost every intersection! Let's please have some speed control on this road before someone is seriously hurt in this busy school zone.
  • Booraem Ave & Central Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
There needs to be a stop light on the corner of booraem and central crossing into Pershing park. Over the weekend my partner and two dogs almost got hit by a reckless driver while crossing central in the crosswalk at noon!! This isn’t the first time almost been hit 3-4 times last few months!! It’s also difficult to make a left turn from Booraem onto central at that intersection because it’s blind. Cars are always speeding excessively. If there’s a stoplight at prospect and central which has much less foot traffic why not booraem and central? Many families are so scared to cross the street here because people do not stop! The current lighting there does absolutely nothing to stop these cars when people are crossing. Please do something before people get seriously hurt!!
  • Johnston Ave & Pine St Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - Bergen-Lafayette

The intersection of Pine and Johnston is extremely dangerous: limited sight distance, cars racing to making lights, excessive traffic from the bridge closing, poor crossing marking. This intersection would benefit greatly from simple changes like crossing lights to warn drivers of crossing, better markings, and a speed bump on Pine. However in the long-term, JC should consider a slow streets design the changes the street from a straight un-obstructed street to a street with intentional obstructions to slow traffic at intersections (e.g., circular planter in the middle of the intersection).

As this neighborhood grows, so will pedestrian traffic and JC needs be proactive about pedestrian safety.

This is also a major bike route for local residents, and desperately needs protected bike lanes.

  • West Side Ave At Harrison Ave Jersey City, NJ 07304, USA - West Side
The barriers that were set up to prevent dangerous turns have been crashed into and not replaced. most of them are gone. Last week I witnessed two pickup trucks swerve from behind the bus at the bus stop at Harrison Ave and Westside to make a turn onto Harrison Ave. during am rush.
  • Hopkins Ave & Palisade Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - The Heights
The crosswalks on Hopkins Ave at Palisade Ave are constantly blocked by Dunkin Donuts customers. Because they are parked their for a short time each individual driver knows that they are very unlikely to be ticketed. However, so many people do it that as a pedestrian it feels like the crosswalk is always blocked. Drivers also roll through the crosswalk very fast especially if they are turning right. Curb extensions here would slow down turning drivers, improve sightlines for everyone involved and prevent blocking the crosswalk.
  • 18th St & Marin Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07310, USA - Downtown
The corner of 18th and Marin is extremely dangerous for pedestrians with drivers rushing to get into Hoboken. While there is a green arrow for drivers going south and turning east, there is none for those going east and turning north, and those drivers blow through the red light to beat the westbound traffic.
  • Christopher Columbus Dr & Washington St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - The Waterfront
The issue is with the intersection right by the PS16 elementary school annex building. Please consider adding traffic guards to this intersection during school drop off and pickup time, and enforce parking regulations. It’s a very unsafe intersection for both kids and parents due to the high volume of car and bike traffic, both ignoring speed limits and traffic lights. In addition, there are always cars being parked illegally close to the pedestrian crossing, blocking road visibility for pedestrians. There have already been multiple incidents of hitting/almost hitting of kids at this intersection. The last one happened just today, where a child was hit by a bike driver. This whole situation is extremely dangerous and would unavoidable lead to serious consequences. Thanks!
  • New York Ave & Palisade Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
Please install curb extensions at Palisade and Booraem. The opening is extremely wide causing pedestrians to be in the street for too long and allowing cars to turn at high speed.
