  • Academy St & Baldwin Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Journal Square
Hello, this intersection is extremely hectic during rush hour. Cars are consistently attempting to beat the short turning signals so it's difficult to cross the street without multiple cars honking horns for pedestrians to get out of the way. I'm reporting this intersection in an effort to prevent anyone from getting seriously hurt.
  • Bowers St & Summit Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights
I have been almost hit by two different vehicles (and then verbally assaulted by the drivers) while walking along summit and crossing bowers with a walk signal (east side of the intersection). The drivers clearly believe they have the right of way at this intersection despite the walk signal. Can you install a Yield to Pedestrians sign or make the pedestrian right of way more obvious?
  • 18th St & Grove St Jersey City, NJ, 07310, USA - Downtown

    URGENT URGENT URGENT!!

Restriping of grove street at intersection needs to IMMEDIATELY BE FIXED or someone on a bike will die This turn from 18th street turning north from both east and west bound cars cut corner to exactly where bicyclists are supposed to stop at white stop line Spoke with team installing bollards and in 10 min of putting them in at corner they had been run over 3 times, they will not last 24 hours at this location
Recommended fixo: make intersection No Turn on Red IMMEDIATELY Cars roll the corner and will not have enough reaction time if distracted to see and react to not run over a cyclist Second, eliminate the right turn lane on 18th st westbound as it does not provide an adequate turning radius to make turn north and not drive over the panted curb bump out that is supposed to protect pedestrians and cyclists but does nothing Third, move back the stop line on grove south bound for both cars and bicyclists so turning vehicles can make the turn without needing to drive into oncoming traffic or the bike lane Lastly we need a Jersey Barrier or real hardened barrier that will stop a car/trick/bus to protect the bike lane as the bollards installed were getting run over within ten minutes of being installed bc intersection design doesn't work I'm just glad none of the workers doing the install weren't hurt

I plead to you to please get someone out there today to see this and start on the fix asap I will happily also meet with them to help guide through the issues here and along grove street with the redesign

  • 2 Welsh Ln Jersey City, NJ 07304, USA - McGinley Square
Traffic and pedestrian hazard. This is the closet category to describe the issue here. There is a major blind spot for drivers when exiting Welsh Lane (located between Harrison Ave and Bentley Ave). It is very hard to seeing there are many times when there is a close collision among drivers exiting from Welsh Lane, drivers traveling in either direction on Bergen Ave, drivers exiting from Brinkerhoff Ave and pedestrians. There are also 2 schools (Badr School and Jersey City Charter) in this same area. Please pass this information to the area that handles traffic and safety. Welsh Lane needs a flashing sign, mirrors or something to assist residents with safely exiting Welsh Lane. Thank you.
  • Magnolia Ave & Summit Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - Journal Square
People continue to park in the limited pedestrian areas along the JSQ buildings forcing people to weave between idling trucks/cars or walk into traffic. This issue has been raised multiple times. Enough is enough -- there are so many actual parking lots in the area so there is no reason for this egregious behavior. The city needs to hold these drivers or the developers accountable.
  • Jersey Ave & York St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
This continues to be a serious problem. There is not a day that goes by where cars roll through or blatantly disregard the stop sign in both directions in an effort to make lights. I myself have nearly been hit many times, and my neighbor was nearly the latest casualty today--had he not jumped out of the way, he would have been hit. This is an active pedestrian (and child-focused) area given the park on the opposite side of the street, as well as numerous schools and day cares in the area. Someone will inevitably be hit if more is not done to beef up pedestrian safety on Jersey Ave (ie more lighted pedestrian walkways with crossing buttons/flashing lights in all 4 directions).
  • 26-32 Newport Pkwy Jersey City, NJ, 07310, USA - The Waterfront
The city really needs to do a traffic safety study at this location The crosswalks on Newport Parkway just east of Washington boulevard are very dangerous Cars fly through here and do not stop for pedestrians in the cross walk It's been requested months ago, but the city hasn't done a thing Someone is going to get hurt or killed Let's address this issue
  • 9th St & Marin Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown

Hi! There's a new traffic pattern at 9th St. and Manila Ave. Tonight, walking across Manila on a GREEN pedestrian light, I noticed that traffic turning right onto Manilla from 9th Street ALSO has a green at the same time. Cars understandably seem a little peeved having to stop as I walk across, but we both have a green light.

It seems like there is potential for a car to continue through on the green without stopping and hitting a pedestrian who is crossing Manilla on their (simultaneous) green. Please see my image taken Feb 3rd to get an idea.

Since it's a revamped intersection, I figured it's worth flagging ASAP since it's not very safe. There is no obvious indication or flashing "yield to pedestrian" light here for cars who are driving legally through a green light. Thanks for checking this out.

  • Bramhall Ave & Garfield Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - Bergen-Lafayette
for the second time this week, cars ignored the pedestrian yield sign and I was almost hit. please do something before a child or pregnant woman such as myself die at this intersection.
  • 115–199 Marin Blvd Jersey City 07302, United States - Downtown
Hello. People speed down the road. I think you should add a stop sign. This is between 18 park and the vantage towards the water
  • 68-80 Sip Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - Journal Square
There is a signalized intersection on Sip Avenue at the access road to the Journal Square Bus Station. The crosswalk at the western side of the intersection across Sip Avenue is missing. In addition, there is a temporary ramp up to the curb made of asphalt, but it is frequently blocked by parked vehicles. This is one of the main areas of pedestrian access to the bus terminal, and is busy with pedestrian traffic. As a crosswalk is missing and pedestrians frequently need to enter the street around parked cars, it feels very unsafe crossing here, like an accident waiting to happen. At a minimum, the crosswalk should be repainted, and the curb access should be restricted so that cars do not park blocking the crosswalk and ramp.
  • Johnston Ave & Maple St Jersey City, NJ, 07304, USA - Bergen-Lafayette
Very dangerous intersection, cars constantly parked past the “no parking here to curb” sign block visibility, causing near-accidents constantly. Also, cars often speed down Johnston and rarely slow for peds waiting for xwalk (partially because they are hard to see with cars parked illegally). A stop sign for both directions of traffic on Johnston would almost entirely solve these problems.
