  • Palisade Ave & South St Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights

This is a request for adding a leading pedestrian interval (LPI) on the intersection of palisades and south in all directions. I cross this street with my daughter in a stroller multiple times a day. I've seen many close calls with cars rushing to make turns onto palisades when the light turns green.

While last year, the walk signals were changed to illuminate along with the car signals (as opposed to having to press the button), cars still try to turn on green into the crosswalk before pedestrians start crossing. Having 3-6 seconds of time where only the walk signal is illuminated before cars have a green will allow pedestrians to start crossing safely and force cars to wait, creating a safer intersection for all of us.

    Thank you!

Resident states that vehicles always speed down this block and do not care for the pedestrians in the crosswalk.
  • 2nd St & Monmouth St Jersey City, NJ, 07302, USA - Downtown
This area is very dangerous, should be made into a larger pedestrian plaza- the traffic traveling westbound on Second Street is extremely fast and dangerous for children.
  • 523-527 Washington Blvd Jersey City, New Jersey, 07310 - The Waterfront

Request for bollards to separate the road from the bike lane/sidewalk at Washington Blvd in front of Chipotle.

There is a constant presence of vehicles stopped or parked in the crosswalk/bike lane here. This is dangerous as it forces bikes into the street or the sidewalk, reduces visibility of pedestrians for cars, and increases points of conflict for cars, pedestrians, and bikes.

There should be a physical barrier to prevent these cars from parking here while still allowing pedestrians through, since there doesn't seem to be any enforcement of parking rules here.

Dangerous intersection - could we implement a stop sign?
  • 205 10th St Jersey City, New Jersey, 07302 - Downtown
Traffic is regularly backed up on 10th street between Marin and Erie due to drivers attempting to bypass tunnel backup on Marin This results in endless horn honking, drivers disregarding the stop signal at 10th and Erie and 10th and Manila as well as turning left into pedestrian traffic at 10th and Marin There are zero pedestrian safety measures at any of these intersections - no warning lights, no traffic signals, not even a stop sign at the Marin intersection There need to be changes to address the reckless and aggressive driving every single afternoon There is a school that lets out and it is only a matter of time before a kid is hit by car let alone any other pedestrian Better signaling is a start but also a traffic study to reduce the vehicular through in the first place This is a residential street and it is being used as a highway for people passing through the city on their way to the tunnel n

We desperately need a stop sign on Lafayette where it crosses Whiton. Cars speed down Lafayette from Pacific. Bad accident happened Saturday night. Please install asap
  • Skillman Ave & Van Winkle Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07306, USA - Journal Square
Requesting a speed bump or a stop sign at this pedestrian heavy crossings on Van Winkle and Skillman Ave. Cars speed up this hill just to beat the signal and reach JFK Blvd. There have been multiple instances of pedestrians almost getting run over.

  • Town Square Pl & Washington Blvd Jersey City, NJ, 07310, USA - The Waterfront
This intersection is especially dangerous in both directions for multiple reasons. We've come dangerously close to hitting pedestrians and being sideswiped by other drivers on numerous occasions. The pedestrian crossing from the mall to the PATH is on a diagonal, meaning that pedestrians cross along a very long area but with little respite in the median due to the large exhaust tower and tall grasses in the way; they're often walking along the curb or running out quickly in front of drivers since they have nowhere else to go. What's more is that there are cars stopping suddenly on both sides of the street to pickup/drop off passengers. Finally, the exhaust tower and grasses are super dangerous for driver sight lines when driving south, and for pedestrians attempting to cross from the median toward the mall. I go through this intersection very slowly and still have to frequently slam on my brakes or veer quickly into the other lane.
  • Bowers St & Palisade Ave Jersey City, NJ, 07307, USA - The Heights

I’m writing as a pedestrian concerned about the safety at the intersection of Palisade Avenue and Bowers Street in Jersey City.

This morning, I experienced a close call where a car turning on green nearly hit me while I was crossing legally with the “Walk” signal.

I’ve observed that this intersection does not currently have a Leading Pedestrian Interval (LPI), and cars often turn without yielding to pedestrians.

I respectfully request that the city consider adding an LPI phase to improve safety at this crossing.

Thank you for your attention and efforts to make Jersey City safer for all road users.

    Best regards,
    Concerned resident
