Beaver dams, on Pierce County owned property, are stopping the flow of Clover Creek and killing wildlife downstream by exposing them to predators and/or leaving them high and dry. These dams are also diverting the creek water onto the flood plains and recharge zones, reducing their efficacy during the winter wet season. There are also issues with creek maintenance upstream from the 138th street bridge preventing water from progressing downstream causing flooding of surrounding properties. Additional pictures of the dams and the property lot owners are available on request.

This area is a natural water run off. Very over grown. We believe the City maintains and the City sprays yearly for blackberries. The area is over grown causing water to pool and flood and has rodents. The flooding causes the ground to be soft and the big tree by the fence line is starting to lean. The flooding causes more floods in my back yard as it is a flow way for the excess water. I hope we can get this resolved. Thank you.

  • 3805 122nd Ave E Edgewood, WA, 98372, USA - Edgewood
This property was developed as a SFR a few years ago and the owner has disregarded the wetland areas delineated in the back yard. They have moved many cubic yards of gravel and fill material in the wetland and used it for parking vehicles and equipment. They are now constructing a garage where there is clearly a wetland on Pierce Co. Wetlands GIS map(see attached photo). The area has been listed since 1996. Brining in fill material and altering the natural flow of water through wetlands can negatively affect adjacent property owners causing flooding that did not previously occur all because somebody is selfish and doesn't follow the rules. Please require property owner to restore the area to native vegetation. This will also be reported to the Washington State Department of Ecology Wetlands department.

Property owners at 3128 226th Ave. E inquired about an issue they are having with wetland/natural drainage area running through their property. Surface water is eroding their cliff and adjacent areas near (and possibly part of) Quiet Water subdivision, where there are County-owned drainage structures. They would like insight on their options to address the erosion, and would like to confirm whether or not the Quiet Water HOA shares any responsibility for regular maintenance of bioswale/detention pond facilities on their property.
