can this sign be removed? No one lives there. The house is for sale. We could really use the parking spot on this congested block
  • In Alley Behind 7410 Meado Lane Ave. Hammond, Indiana - Hammond
With reference to issue 2847258 . Was told by crew last year this would be fixed next spring. Spring and come and gone and problem still exists. Standing water for a few days after a rain. Breeding ground for mosquitos.
  • 7053 State Line Ave Hammond IN 46324, United States - Hammond
The flooded water in this alley smells like sewage. It also smells like sewage on Forest Ave along street. Possible broken sanitary line?

The drain that was out in the alley is not draining. My garage and backyard are completely flooded. This needs to be fixed!

water continues to back up in the alley between Howard and Jane Kennedy. Reported last June.
  • 7045 Birch Ave Hammond, IN, 46324, USA - Hammond
This picture is taken several hours after a heavy rain today. It is great that the alley has been paved. However, the sewer drains are uphill from this location. We have a lake in the alley every time it rains. Can the city engineers take a closer look to see how we can re-grade the alley so the water drains to the street sewers instead of behind our garages?
  • 7107 State Line Ave Hammond IN 46324, United States - Hammond
This alley floods during every rainstorm and continues to sit until it evaporates. Any chance a new drain can be added along it to minimize the constant floods? It’s difficult to bring trash to garbage cans when water collects in low points where drainage is not available for water to exit.
  • 4025 Wabash Ave Hammond IN 46327, United States - Hammond
I tried calling the sewer line but wasn't able to get a option to leave a message or talk to a actual person. With the forecast showing continuous rain for the entire weekend, this alley needs to be pumped today if possible. This is a well documented flood alley that needs an actual sewer not just a French drain.
  • 7215 Birch Ave Hammond, IN 46324, USA - Hammond
large puddle forms behind my the garage. In the winter this forms into a large sheet of ice making it difficult to pull in or back out.
  • 4618 Pine Ave Hammond, IN 46327, USA - Hammond
What used to be a pond has turned into what we like to call Lake Pine. I think this lake is causing erosion in my yard. All this water has to go somewhere and the way my ground is sinking I think this is the culprit! Someone pls help!
  • 4815 Columbia Ave Hammond IN 46327, United States - Hammond
Water in Alley not properly draining towards the sewer. The alley is paved too high behind these houses and water fails to drain resulting in constant flooding during periods of rain. Please investigate

TLDR: Can someone help with water that's running from the City alley on to my property, causing damage?

For the past 17 years, water in the alley has been running and collecting around my garage and patio. Over the years, it's caused water rot one of the corners of the garage frame - causing a little damage the pain, siding. When it rains hard, it completely saturates the backyard - and runs over our patio, down our sidewalk (which we already replaced once) and into the front storm drain!

Keep in mind - our house is such an elevation that it does not require a sump pump.

We tried sandbagging, drylok paint, shop vac, rocks, even a giant squeegee to push the water back into the alley...and just chalked it up to one of bad things about the house. We thought about getting a dry well installed.

However...last summer, we watched as the City installed a Dry Well on the south end of the alley for someone who was having a similar problem.

Is this something that you can fix?!

    Thanks.
