  • Berry St & North Ave Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
I would like DPW to consider adding a beacon light at the corner of Berry Street and North Ave. There is a clearly marked crosswalk, but cars fly through here and rarely yield to pedestrians. When cars do stop, I've seen cars eager to turn right out of Berry Street or left out of Manhattan Drive pull out onto North Ave, endangering pedestrians. If a beacon light cannot be added in this location, I hope you will consider repainting the crosswalk. Thank you!

Our community desperately needs a stop sign on S. Union Street near Edmunds School. This is at the intersection where S. Union meets King Street. I have lived in this area for several years and have witnessed many near car accidents and some actual collisions. Cars making left hand turns from King onto Union do not see cars barreling down S. Union, so they make the turn and side-swipe another car. I have even been IN an accident where this happened. Luckily, in my instance no one was injured but it was frightening and did damage to both cars.

Another reason this stop sign is necessary is for the safety of pedestrians (especially children) who cross the road from Edmunds near this intersection. Because a car making a left hand turn from King has to do it quickly (it’s nearly impossible to see cars coming down from S. Union), they have to whip around the corner. This puts pedestrians at risk in the crosswalk because cars have to make that turn so fast to avoid traffic coming from the right. It is a turn uphill which adds to the challenge of seeing people crossing the street.

The addition of a stop sign here would drastically increase the safety for all involved—both cars and pedestrians, alike. Being that this intersection is DIRECTLY across from Edmunds, it feels even more necessary in order to protect our kids. I think we need to do something to make this intersection more safe before someone (especially a child!) gets seriously injured or killed.

I live on North Street and North Prospect and the speeding on this street, especially this end, is crazy. I want to know how to get evaluated for a speed bump over here to slow down the traffic for kids and dog safety.
    Thanks!

  • 204 King St Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
The "no parking signs" in front of 204 and 208 King Street need to be taken down. They were put up when the Main Street construction started a couple months ago, apparently to help direct Perrywinkle's customers to its alternative back entrance. However, the construction ended weeks ago, Main Street has been open, and the Perrywinkle's Main Street entrance has been accessible. Thus, there is no longer a need for the "no parking" signs on King Street, which are effectively blocking two valuable parking spots from the residents. Parking on King Street is already extremely limited, and many apartment buildings have no off-street parking available for the tenants.

feeling frustrated and concerned with how fast people drive down our street because it's long and straight. We also don't have sidewalks, so it feels dangerous taking Fletcher for walks down the street. Do you know if the city has considered putting speed bumps/tables on Cottage Grove like they did on Tracey Drive?
  • Intervale Ave & Oak St Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
Please consider adding a flashing "Four-way stop" sign to this intersection. Drivers traveling on Riverside/Oak Street consistently miss drivers traveling on Intervale/Manhattan Dr, and there have been many near-collisions.
  • 2-28 Grant St Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric

On Grant Street (in between Winooski Ave and Elmwood) cars tend to speed when turning off Elmwood, down Grant Street, and turn right on Winooski.

There are speed bumps on the other side of Grant Street (in between Winooski an N. Union Street), but none on our section of Grant Street where people speed and where we witness accidents on the intersection of Elmwood and Grant, that I think would occur less if people were not going as fast.

  • Colchester Ave & East Ave Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
The traffic pattern is confusing and dangerous going east on Colchester Ave through the East Ave light. It's made much worse with the painted bike lane to go straight through the intersection (which is on the lefthand side of the right turn lane) totally faded away. I regularly ride through that intersection with my kids in a trailer or on the back of an ebike. Yesterday, while following the traffic pattern, a car passed me just past the intersection and yelled "@#$% you, @#$%." This happens probably 3-4x per month where someone yells something and nearly every week where someone aggressively passes immediately after the intersection. It sucks, it's dangerous, and it freaks my kids out.

This intersection is unbelievable dangerous and requires a traffic light.

In preparation for integrated arts Academy, moving to St. Mark's church, wondering if it's possible to get a left turn signal at the red light onto shore Road? It's very difficult to turn there and with many cars trying to do that it will take forever.
