Traffic Signal ProblemsReconnuNorth Avenue At Barley Road Burlington, VT 05408, USA - Burlington ElectricFlashing crosswalk sign desperately needed at this intersection. Kids are almost getting hit by cars with or without a crossing guard being present. Kids were almost hit today. Cars are coming from the North, South, and the Flynn school parking lot. Please have a flashing crosswalk sign added ASAP.

North St & Russell St Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
The intersection of Booth Street and North Street is quite traffic-heavy. I understand that it's used as an emergency services access vein stretching from North Avenue to North Prospect Street, and that speed bumps might be inappropriate.
I wonder if the crosswalk across North St. near Russel and Booth could be a good location for illuminated pedestrian crosswalks signs. Particularly in the winter, I see people waiting a long time to cross the street with children and dogs to and from Pomeroy Park because drivers are unaware that there's a crosswalk.

Pearl St & N Willard St Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington ElectricAs a pedestrian, I've almost been hit by a car several times here, much more than other intersections here in Burlington. I've had to run or jump out of the way to avoid a collision several times. The problem is cars are turning left in this intersection and not paying attention to pedestrians in the crosswalk. I'd like to formally request having this intersection be made safer for pedestrians or alternative crosswalks near the intersection on South Willard Street pedestrians can use.

Cherry St & Cathedral Sq Burlington, Vermont, 05401 - Burlington Electric
Just to the east of our property, and just west of the Courthouse, there is a crosswalk with a cut-down curb. It crosses to the Hotel Vermont and the parking garage. In my opinion, it has become a dangerous place.
Cars park in that crosswalk and block the cut down curb. Cars exiting the parking lot often begin a turn while the driver is looking for oncoming traffic in the opposite direction of their turn.
I am in a wheelchair and others in our building use walkers and canes. Often, I am not seen while I am in the crosswalk. I have to turn my wheelchair into the garage exit driveway when the curb is blocked.
Similarly, on "my" end, the north end of the walk, vehicles...cars, bikes, and scooters sail downhill and cannot stop as I enter the walkway. So, at the very least, the walkway needs fresh paint. The cut down needs a do not park sign or markings. I would like to have posts installed which close the lane from cars in front of the hotel, ideally.
I kid you not, Despite having flags on my wheelchair, vehicles disregard the purpose of the crosswalk all the time and it's scary. What can be done? If I use the crosswalks uphill or downhill from this one, there is not much improvement either. At the corner of Cherry and Battery, I've had the experience of being in the crosswalk when a car crosses it and waits for the light to change, completely disregarding pedestrians or wheelchairs.

Appletree Point Rd & Westminster Dr Burlington, VT, 05408, USA - Burlington Electrici initially thought there was no speed sign but one can see it is ignored. neighbors living on lake and side streets and contractors haul trailers and even loaded dump trucks at speeds many well over 40 mph. neighbors have no excuse, they knew when they moved in. any thoughts on ways to slow them down? thank you

Summit St & Main St Burlington, Vermont, 05401 - Burlington ElectricWe need:
1. Warning signs about the flashing lights 100 feet east and west.
2. Painted brick or green roadway.
3. Hoods for the lights so people see them against the sun.
4. Maybe red lights instead of yellow -
123-147 Colchester Ave Burlington, Vermont, 05405 - Burlington Electric
This intersection is used by dozens of UVMMC staff and UVM students and staff daily to cross to and from the UVMMC campus, placing pedestrians at significant risk of injury. People are forced to cross here due to the lack of a sidewalk that leads to the next crosswalk across from the McClure lobby entrance. As recently as 12/18, a pedestrian was struck, requiring emergency treatment. Anecdotally, this is an all too common occurrence.
A crosswalk with adequate signage would be a significant and important measure to help keep pedestrians safe.

Main St & University Hts Burlington, Vermont, 05405 - Burlington ElectricMain Street intersection at the top of the UVM campus by university heights road. As someone who uses the two crosswalks at this intersection daily, I'm a frequent observer of near-collisions between cars and pedestrians. Today, I was the subject of one of these near collisions as I tried to use the crosswalk closer to the Davis Center. When using that specific crosswalk, one receives a white walk signal for a few seconds before it starts to blink. Once the crossing signal begins blinking (with 15-20 seconds left to walk), the cars coming out of University Heights rd receive a green light, permitting them to turn left through that same crosswalk. This means that if said cars aren't paying attention, there's a chance that they run over any pedestrians still using the crosswalk. This happened to me today as I approached the crosswalk from the side of the street opposite University Heights rd with 15 seconds to spare. I noticed that left-turning cars started to move, with one speeding in front of me as I approached and stopped at the road (seeing as they did not stop nor slow down for me). Then, I started to jog towards the center median (after noticing cars accelerating down U-Heights rd to make the green light) and subsequently was required to jump out of the way as a speeding car came inches from killing me. I believe that this intersection is hazardous and urgently needs redesigning. Cars need to be informed that a solid green light still indicates a yield when turning. At this intersection, pedestrians have the right of way, but it sure doesn't feel like it. As for solutions, I would gladly provide some in further correspondence, but perhaps at the bare minimum, raising the crosswalks would help cars stay alert.
Thank you for your consideration, -

S Willard St Burlington, Vermont, 05401 - Burlington Electric
I live on S. Willard St. and have been increasingly concerned about the difficulty of turning out onto Willard from any driveway. Because of the parked cars on the side of the street, it is difficult to see any oncoming traffic while turning out. I have witnessed a car accident as well as been hit on my bike because of this.
Moreover, the lengthy distance between crosswalks (between College and Pearl street) makes it so that people jaywalk often and cars tend to drive at faster speeds. All of this makes for a very unsafe situation.
If cars were banned from parking on the street (or at least banned from one car length adjacent to each driveway) I think the safety of this situation could be improved. Also, would it be possible to put in another crosswalk (and crosswalk lights?) on Willard between College and Pearl so people are less likely to jaywalk and cars would hopefully be more cautious?
Thank you for considering. Many of are very concerned about this matter.

266 Main St Burlington, Vermont, 05401 - Burlington ElectricI'd like to suggest a 'no turn on red' sign get added to the street light post in this intersection. Cars turning right, that creep up toward the intersection can miss the other no turn on red signs... and this is a busy cross walk. Just an idea...
