Transportation or Parking Improvement RequestPotwierdzone457 S Willard St Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington ElectricPlease consider making the top space on Howard Street, the space between our garage and South Willard, a No Parking spot. Yesterday alone there were two accidents there, and one left a car with fuel leaking, requiring the Fire Department. Cars park there, and cars (and buses and trucks) coming around the corner from South Willard don’t see them in time. I’m afraid we may have a really nasty accident.

There has been a curb built in to our driveway for years, and it is taking a toll on the vehicles that use this side of the driveway; repairs will be necessary, and expensive.
On street parkers often get confused by the curb and park too close/block the driveway.

Transportation or Parking Improvement RequestPotwierdzoneCollege St & S Willard St Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
Traffic flow between College & Main St. on S Willard is dangerous and unreasonably congested during peak hours.
Turning out of our driveway on the east (parking) side of Willard north of College St. is already treacherous at all hours of the day due to limited visibility; on average, I experience a near-collision roughly twice a week despite an abundance of caution, and I have seen my neighbors t-boned more than once trying to get out of the driveway.
Extreme traffic backups during peak hours make this problem FAR worse - cars waiting to turn left on College St or Main St cause southbound backups to Bradley, Buell, and - occasionally - Pearl St.
The best solution would be to install a left-turn arrow on Willard St for cars trying to get onto eastbound Main St... or at College St. to try and direct more traffic toward campus that way.
Also, with full awareness that parking was moved to the east side of Willard only a few years ago, I'll underscore that it has created a very dangerous situation for people living on that side of the street. With cars parked further out than usual due to snow, and routine encroachment into driveway entrances by people parking on the street, it's made even more awful.
All of this is also dangerous to pedestrians, who regularly cross Willard at Bradley and Buell, despite there being no marked crosswalks there (please don't add them... it'll only make congestion worse).
Anyway, you're the experts, but something must be done.

Transportation or Parking Improvement RequestPotwierdzone142-150 Lakeside Ave Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington ElectricThe right turn only lane on Lakeside approaching the Champlain Parkway from the west is unnecessary, confusing, and unsafe. There is not enough traffic volume to justify it. Cars regularly use it when going straight, which causes safety concerns when merging with drivers in the actual straight ahead lane to its left, which must shift right to get into the lane beyond the intersection. I suggest a few options. The preferred option is to restripe this whole section to put in bike lanes on each side, and only one lane in each direction for motorized traffic. Another option is to narrow the roadway by blocking off the right lane; maybe make it a parking lane, but with barriers at each end to prevent vehicles from driving there (but make the barrier pervious to bikes). The final and least desirable option (but better than status quo) would be to turn the right lane into the through lane and make the left/middle lane a left turn-only lane for the Innovation Center - also unnecessary but causing less harm, and less confusion. Any of these would improve safety in this section.
