Traffic/Street Signs: Report ProblemPotwierdzoneManhattan Dr Burlington, Vermont, 05401 - Burlington ElectricThere needs to be better signage at the intersection of Spring Street and Manhattan Drive so that pedestrians are actually SAFE when walking in the crosswalks. This morning my children and I were crossing the street in the crosswalk to go to school and a car drove right through the crosswalk and almost hit us. I live on Manhattan Dr and this happens VERY often. Cars DO NOT stop or look. It's a VERY dangerous intersection in a school zone and nothing is done to improve it. There needs to be a crossing guard or a flashing light. Is it going to take a child getting hit by a car for you to do anything??

Traffic/Street Signs: Report ProblemPotwierdzone79 1/2 Chase St Burlington, VT 05401, USA - Burlington ElectricPlease add crosswalk signs to both sides of the street in both directions. This street has high volumes of traffic. Often with traffic backed up across the crosswalk. Better visual signage for crosswalk is appropriate.

Traffic/Street Signs: Report ProblemPotwierdzone162-266 Austin Dr Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington ElectricWith the new entrance to the bikepath on Austin Drive we have noticed a lot more use of the path by bikers/pedestrians, etc. It would be VERY helpful to have a flashing crosswalk signal that users can activate to alert drivers to crossing. The crosswalk is on a blind curve if coming East on Austin drive out of S. Cove and it is extremely hard to see users of the crosswalk from that direction until you are in the intersection. This is dangers for little kids and young riders especially, but true for all riders/walkers. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Transportation or Parking Improvement RequestPotwierdzone1-71 Brierwood Ln Burlington, VT, 05408, USA - Burlington ElectricConsider adding a sign to slow down folks coming around this corner. It is a dangerous curve with people speeding around it, and cars parked on the street which sometimes makes it a blind turn.

Traffic/Street Signs: Report ProblemPotwierdzoneBeltline Burlington, VT, 05408, USA - Burlington Electric
I’d like to flag an area of concern regarding a pattern of dangerous and illegal driving on southbound Rt. 127 as it merges with the southbound on-ramp from North Avenue. Both these events occurred between 8-9 AM on weekdays at rush hour. On two occasions in the past several weeks I experienced drivers coming from the direction of Colchester on southbound Rt. 127 accelerating to very high speeds (65-70 MPH) in order to pass traffic coming from North Avenue that had already merged onto 127. On both occasions this occurred well beyond the markings for two lanes, and on one occasion the passing car actually clipped my mirror as there was no room between my car and the curb. On both occasions these drivers observably accelerated from a considerable and safe distance behind the merged traffic in order to pass as many cars as possible. This is incredibly dangerous driving; merging traffic is inherently complicated and making the judgments necessary for allowing legal right of way requires safe and legal driving.
Based on my experience someone is going to get hurt, probably sooner than later. I’ve seen this driving a number of times outside the two cases above; my guess is it’s becoming normalized which is an extremely dangerous trend. The larger problem is the extra width of the roadway beyond the lane markings; clearly these drivers see this as license to pass at very high speeds where there is no legal passing. Again, if this doesn’t stop someone is going to get hurt.
Thank you for your consideration.

Traffic/Street Signs: Report ProblemPotwierdzoneMaple St & S Winooski Ave Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
I am writing to suggest relocating the traffic signs on Winooski Avenue to the opposite (right-hand) side of the street. Because Winooski is one-way, drivers turning from Maple Street often miss the current signage—placed on the left—and mistakenly turn against traffic.
Moving the signs to the right side, where drivers’ attention is naturally focused, would make them more visible and could significantly reduce the risk of wrong-way turns at this intersection.
Thank you for your consideration, and for all the work you do to keep our streets safe.
