Traffic Signal ProblemsPotwierdzone230 Saint Paul St Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington ElectricCrossing stop light was recently replaced by "flashing light crossing", like others installed around town. In most locations this would be fine, but not in front of Decker Towers. Many residents have trouble walking, some use canes, walkers, or wheelchairs. We have had quite a few close calls so far. We need a crossing light like the one at the top of Church Street, that allows a slow walker time to cross. Please look into this - it's important. Thanks, BC @ Decker - "slow walker"

Transportation and Parking Improvement RequestPotwierdzone762 North Ave Burlington VT 05408, United States - Burlington ElectricThere are now a dozen missing flex posts at this intersection on the south side, plus more missing on the north side. This encourages speeding on this incredibly wide stretch of road (which is signed at 25mph) and allows for NB traffic to use the bike lane to turn onto the beltline. Please replace missing flex posts.

Transportation and Parking Improvement RequestPotwierdzone21 Richardson St Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington ElectricCars drive dangerously fast on Richardson St, particularly from the north when turning onto Richardson from Flynn. Request for speed bumps to be placd on this street when re-paving takes place. There are a ton of kids living on this street, and speeding cars are a common concern.

Traffic CalmingPotwierdzoneHenry Street Deli Mart 11 Henry St, Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington ElectricI left you a voice mail yesterday seeking advice about how to address a dangerous situation on Henry Street. There are now two families with small children — by this fall it will be three families — living beside or right across the street from the Henry Street Market. During busy times, customers entirely ignore the "No parking this side of street" sign on the north side of the street. That narrows the street to less than two lanes. With cars parked on both sides — and the speed with which cars travel, even on our one block street — it's difficult to see pedestrians crossing the street, or bicyclists. In addition, these illegal parkers use our driveways to turn around, increasing the danger.
Let me assure you we have made concerted, close to harassing, efforts to get Parking Enforcement to deal with the situation. That is NOT the solution. Of course they can't be here all the time, even during busy hours.
We think a structural solution is required, including at least one bump out on the north side of the street near the market and some speed bumps.
We would like to know how we go about persuading your department to address this. We fear you don't care about our safety. If the safety of our kids was a major concern, Public Works would NOT have moved the parking on North Willard from the west side of the street to the east. Doing so RETURNED the unsafe situation people on the street persuaded Public Works to alleviate more than a decade ago. With cars parked on the east side, There are terrible sight lines if you are turning onto Willard from Henry Street. You can't see past the oncoming cars to turn safely. I've almost been hit myself this year.
As I said, Public Works recognized this problem more than a decade ago, and moved the parking from the east to the west side of the street. It was changed back (to create the bike lane) a year or more ago without any notice I'm aware of, or an opportunity for Henry Street people to point out the problem. Why can't the bike lane be on the east side of the street?
Anyway, I digress. Our immediate concern is to get help before a child or an adult pedestrian gets hit by a car in front of the market. -
Transportation and Parking Improvement RequestPotwierdzone150-176 Battery St Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
Battery St needs high quality (inverted-u on hard surface, preferably near curb cut) bike parking installed on every block on at least the east side.
AFAICT on Battery St from Pearl St to Maple St there is only ONE public rack on the east side despite the many destinations there, and that one rack is a sub-standard "wave" rack to boot. Please help people riding bikes patronize our local businesses.

Transportation and Parking Improvement RequestPotwierdzone32 Sherman St Burlington VT 05401, United States - Burlington ElectricIs this intersection & stretch of road going to be completed as specified in the approved plans? Curbs got adjusted, roads were repaved, but it seems like there is still a bunch of unfinished work. Pedestrian area at the southwest corner (from battery park) has gravel, unpaved sections & seems very unfinished. Protected bike lane still has not been reinstalled. The corner is often cut by cars now, so physically separated lanes would be really ideal.

Traffic Calming - Flynn Ave near Wells StPotwierdzone382 Flynn Ave Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington ElectricAre there any traffic calming measures being planned for this block of Flynn? If not, can you share with me what the process is for requesting measures be put in place? My husband, seven-year-old twins and I almost got hit by a car when crossing today, at a crosswalk. I’d love to lead the charge in getting additional lights and another additional crosswalk + lights so that my family and friends can have some help in slowing down the traffic in this area. A stern look only goes so far.

Transportation and Parking Improvement RequestPotwierdzone472 S Union St Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
Drivers come off of Shelburne street where speeds are higher and do not slow in our neighborhood. I have seen drivers going up to approximately 50 miles per hour down our block where the speed limit is 25 mph.
Since my family and our neighbors cross the street often to play this has created a very hazardous situation in our small neighborhood. Furthermore, many residents on the street park on one side and cross often to get to their cars. I’m wondering what we can do to address this?

Dangerous IntersectionPotwierdzoneFlynn Ave & Shelburne Rd Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington ElectricI drive past this intersection everyday. I witness accidents/near misses all the time. The light switches too quickly from RED to Green. People run this light daily. If you do not count to three when you get a green light you run the risk of being hit. I think there should be a longer delay from RED to GREEN. I also think there needs to be better speed enforcement. Someone is going to get seriously hurt or worse. Thank you for your time.

Transportation and Parking Improvement RequestPotwierdzone140 Shelburne Rd Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington ElectricBus stop at end of Adams Court overlaps with pedestrian crosswalk. Bus stop also is at merger of 2 lanes to 1 lane of northbound traffic. Rt 7 signage also blocks flashing crosswalk signals to North and tree blocks signals going south- very dangerous

When is the city going to do something proactive about the constant illegal parking at The Spot? Working with the property owner? Consistent active enforcement? Fences around the green areas? Signage? All of the above? The status quo is not getting this fixed so we need to try new methods.
This is easily one of the worst places in the city with regards to illegal parking. And often the parking is completely blocking the sidewalk, totally preventing access for people using mobility devices. Obviously just showing up sometimes once a report is made is not working, nor is it a sustainable strategy. Engineering is better than enforcement as it works tirelessly 24x7.
These probably aren't even all the reports, but SCF's search function leaves a lot to be desired... Anyway, you get the point, this is a rampant perennial issue that deserves more attention than it has been getting.
