In front of my home, 53 Lakeside Avenue, people like to try and park 2 cars where there is only space for one. We would like to request a single car only sign for this space so we don't have to constantly call parking enforcement (who is awesome btw). It also limits us from using our trailer for our business as we have a tough time backing in when people are encroaching on our driveway. A much better solution for everyone would be to not allow parking on the south side of the street at all. It would then be exactly like the rest of Lakeside Avenue which doesn't allow parking on the south side all the way to Pine Street. Thanks for hearing us!
  • King St & S Winooski Ave Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
South Winooski at King st - There is a grave concern for pedestrians crossing at this intersection as the traffic tends to roll through and/or not stop at all at the stop signs. Please find a way to keep the increased pedestrian traffic safe.
  • 151-155 Lakeside Ave Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
The new lights at the intersection of Lakeside and the Champlain Parkway are way more than is needed for current traffic volumes. This is a waste of people's time and creates more pollution from gas-powered engines. As a cyclist I've taken to cutting through the Innovation Center and BED parking lots to avoid the lights.
There is absolutely no need for a separate phase for cars turning left from Lakeside onto the parkway. Maybe someday, but not now. Right now it just causes unnecessary delays for people coming from the west. I think 4-way blinking reds would be enough for the current traffic volume, but at least please simplify the phasing.
  • Flynn Ave Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric

The traffic on Flynn street coming to Oak Ledge Park is dangerously speeding past Oak Beach Dr. With the volleyball, Frisbee and kickball leagues starting, trucks, SUVs are racing through the narrow pedestrian area to get a parking spot, now that parking is so limited. They are driving like it’s hwy189. Also, since the water main construction is finished, the street is narrowed at the Oak Beach Dr. Intersection, so it is even more dangerous.

We request either stop signs on Flynn at both sides of Oak Beach Dr. and/or speed bumps on Flynn starting at least 2 blocks up from the park and into the park entrance. This should slow traffic somewhat. Also, please consider moving the boulders further out and widening the street to allow for bicycles and pedestrians on both sides.

This area between Oak Beach Dr. And the park is a busy pedestrian, biking, dog walking, family traffic area. Cars should be cautioned to be more careful.

Please consider this before something tragic happens.

    Thank you.

The new full stop lights at the north end of the new connector and at the exit light for theold GD plant are completely overkill. There is little traffic on Lakeside as it is and barely any use now of the connector section that has been completed. The exit to the GD building has never needed one. They should bet set to blinking red with blinking yellow on the ones on Lakdeside.

When the full extension to I-89 is build it might need a full STOP light, but for now it's just stopping traffic with no cars in sight.

  • Charlotte St Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
A local resident of Charlotte Street would like DPW Staff to institute a one side of the street parking restriction on Charlotte Street. This one-sided parking restriction will allow better access for emergency services and winter maintenance crews.

2 items of concern at Hula site -

    1. There is an immediate need for a stop sign for the cars coming out of the Hula parking area (behind the original Blodgett building). There is no stop sign there or on Central Ave. so cars can come out onto Lakeside for both directions . I've seen several almost-accidents when cars don't stop coming out of Hula.

    2. Coming from the east, those first two parking spaces on Lakeside Ave. in front of Hula block the view of cars coming up the hill and should really be eliminated.

    Thanks for your consideration.

The reflective tape on these bashed up dirty poles is all peeling off, rendering it messy and ineffective.
  • 26 Dodds Ct Burlington, VT, 05408, USA - Burlington Electric

Dodds Court should be a one way, have lots and lots of speed bumps, or be a dead end. It is currently used as a way for cars to bypass the light on the corner of Shore Road and North Ave.

That would be fine, except that the curve in the road decreases sight lines, and there are children playing and biking around here. I'd like to see cars slow down significantly (like, to 15 mph or less), or simple not be able to use this road to bypass the light by making it take longer than waiting (many speed bumps) or be impassable (dead end).

I understand that these are cheap and easy to replace. However, has anyone looked at the environmental impact of making, replacing, and throwing away all of these disposable plastic barriers. They can potentially be recycled, but China is no longer taking our plastic recycling. Does DPW have a long term plan in place to replace these barriers with something more environmentally friendly?
    Thank you.
  • Main St & S Willard St Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric

Can the crosswalks at Main and Willard allow pedestrians to cross while keeping ALL lights red? I've been nearly struck by multiple cars while walking on Main crossing over Willard. This is also a major crossing point for students aat Edmunds Elementary and Middle schools.

The main issue appears to be the left turning traffic not having a left turn light. They are allowed to turn and must beat the oncoming traffic while pedestrians are crossing. Additionally the crosswalk signals are particular difficult to see from a vehicle attempting to turn left from Main on to Willard.

Trucks are having a hard time making the turn because of the bump out.
