  • 38 Flynn Ave Burlington, VT 05401, USA - Burlington Electric

The pavement markings for the speed hump needs to be repainted.

The painted markings gets scraped off by snow plows every winter, making it harder for oncoming traffic to see the humps, resulting in the vehicles not slowing down and slamming down hard on the speed humps as they speed. This wakes us at night and leaves car parts on the road.

Every spring we file a report about the worn-off paint on seeclickfix. Some years, DPW promptly arrives to repaint the markings. Other years, DPW doesn’t respond until we have posted repeated times. We posted about this problem on seeclickfix a few months ago. DPW has once again done nothing. It’s frustrating and discouraging that DPW ignores citizen reports, and has no system in place to proactively maintain these important street markings, which help enhance vehicle and public safety.

  • S Prospect St Burlington, VT, 05405, USA - Burlington Electric

At intersection of South Prospect and Main, I was travelling north and had a green arrow for a right turn. I started to turn right, but someone travelling west on Main was taking a left turn, and cut the corner so far to the left, that he almost ran head-on into me, as I was turning right.

Those drivers turning left from Main to South Prospect must go way way to the right, across two lanes to the single southbound lane on the right. He may not have realized that we (northbound) had a green light for a right turn, and so just cut in front of the two northbound lanes.

Seriously, this was almost a head-on collision with both of us accelerating. I use this route a lot, and this happens as lot of the time. Especially when it's dark out.

PLEASE, when you repaint the lane markings -- put in a dotted line showing the path that must be taken turning LEFT onto South Prospect from Main. Give the northbound people turning left (to become east-bound) plenty of room to make our turn.

If you draw a picture of what I describe, you'll understand what I mean.

Thanks for your service to our community!

  • Colchester Avenue At Barrett Street Burlington, VT 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
If you can't fit the stencil in the lane, the lane is not wide enough. At the bottom of Colchester Ave heading downhill before Barrett Street. Please make sure upcoming long line striping fixes this as well as stencil.
  • 56 Brookes Ave Burlington, VT 05401, USA - Burlington Electric

  • 79 1/2 Chase St Burlington, VT 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
Crosswalk at odd angle at Chase and Barrett Street lacks appropriate signage, street pavement markings and traffic calming features. Please advise how the Department of Public Works will proceed with this request.
  • Colchester Ave Burlington, Vermont, 05401 - Burlington Electric
Please repaint the stop bar on the west side of Colchester Avenue turning left onto South Prospect Street, this one is faded and people pulling up too close making it hard of UVM buses to make turns
  • 260 East Ave Burlington, VT 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
Both crosswalks are faded and need to be repainted.
  • 521 Shelburne Rd Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
The pavement markings designating turning movements on the western side of the Farrell/Homes Shelburne Rd intersection are not visible. I have witnessed many near sideswipe car collisions and personally I have almost been taken out on my bicycle from motorists not understanding that the right lane is RIGHT TURN ONLY, instead they continue straight through the intersection and nearly collide with traffic using the other through lane! The condition of the markings has been poor for at least two years. I noted temporary markings were painted on the other side on Farrell St, why not on this side? Thank you in advance for taking care of this issue.
