  • 132 Nevins St. New York, Brooklyn - Boerum Hill
The NYC Dept. of Environmental Protection has trucks digging up Nevins Street and closing off traffic. As a result, trucks and buses cannot make the unexpected turn onto Dean St. and currently a big bus is stuck in the intersection, causing traffic tie-ups and a cascade of honking horns - right outside of an elementary school and residential area. When we asked the DOEP manager on the job (sitting in his idling truck, said his name was Jefferson) to close off the street or signal to driver that there is work ahead to avoid traffic jams, he belligerently said it wasn't his problem. This is unsensitive, unresponsive city government at its worst!

  • 1254 East Gun Hill Road Bronx, NY 10469, USA - Baychester
The sidewalk curb is very bad for parking. If you park on about 200ft of this block you will usually end up on the sidewalk.

  • 640 Pelham Parkway South New York, New York - Morris Park
I believe this intersection was modified in the past year or so. There is now a lane to go straight (marked with 1 arrow on the pavement) and a lane to go right (also marked with 1 arrow). Well, either people don't pay attention or can't see the arrows when there is traffic, because people are constantly going STRAIGHT from the RIGHT TURN lane!! This will clearly cause an accident at some point if it hasn't already! I even got stuck running a red light yesterday because someone cut me off from the right hand turn lane! There needs to be more signs here so people know what's going on!! Would be better too if the lanes were actually lined up properly, so you didn't have to move over to the left to get into the lane to go straight and then go back to the right.
  • 1415 Bristow Street BRONX, NY - City Council District 16
EVERY WINTER IT SEEMS AS IF THIS BUILDING IS VERY COLD. THERE ARE CHILDREN IN THIS BUILDING. MYSELF AND SOME NEIGHBORS ARE COMPLAINING BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE HEAT OR WE HAVE VERY LITTLE HEAT. THE CITY WAS CALLED A FEW TIMES AND WHEN A BUILDING INSPECTOR COMES, IT SEEMS LIKE THE SUPER RAPIDLY TURNS ON THE HEAT AND THEN WHEN THE CITY LEAVES, SO DOES THE HEAT! ITS RIDICULOUS FOR STRUGGLING FAMILIES TO PAY RENT WITHOUT RECEIVING AN ADEQUATE AMOUNT OF HEAT. MY CHILD IS 5 YEARS OLD. 5 YEARS OLD! WE ALL HAVE A COLD BECAUSE OF THIS MOLDY AND COLD APARTMENT. THIS IS YEAR 2013! CHANGES NEED TO BE MADE ASAP! PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO HELP US. WE ARE IN DESPERATE NEED.
  • 304 West 147th New York NY 10039 - Ridgewood
NO HEAT AND NO HOT WATER SINCE SUNDAY ANY COMPLAINTS TO 311 NO ACTION
  • Roosevelt Island Tram New York, NY - North Sutton Area
Out of service AGAIN, approximately one month after loss of service lasting over a month. Obviously antiquated, unreliable, possibly unsafe. This is unacceptable for an island with a large population of disabled and elderly resident, not to mention people with baby strollers and bicycles. This elevator seems beyond repair and should probably be replaced; and a full-time attendant should be provided in the interim for the now highly inaccessible emergency/handicapped elevator. Absolutely appalling callousness to the needs of an island population with limited means of transportation.
  • 1334 Union Street - City Council District 40

Since November, we have repeatedly reported problems with heat by text, email, and occassionally phone. Specifically, that it is regularly between 55 and 58, even when the temperature is set at 70, 72, or 74. Last week, one bedroom was 43 and another was 60. The thermostat was at 72. We have worked with the landlords to address the problem -- for example, putting plastic over the windows, and exploring other solutions such as increasing the pressure on the boiler so that heat would distribute better to the other rooms. The problem remains, and turning up the heat is not a solution because the heating system simply does heat the apartment. We have repeatedly reported that when the heat is on or we turn it up the heat, little comes out.

On January 4, we discussed options with the landlord, who identified three problems: 1) insulation was missing from the floor in one of the rooms; 2) three of the rooms did not have an adequate number of heaters installed; and 3) the need to increase the pressure on the boiler. She also thought one bedroom was probably not insulated, but because the room was advertised as a bedroom, it was set up as such.

The increase in boiler pressure did not work. Neither, as far as know or have been told, has work begun to address the other problems the landlord identified. Over the past several weeks, the pilot light has repeatedly blown out, leaving us without heat at all. As of Saturday, Feb. 1st, the repairman had not come. Fixing a pilot light, however, has only ensured that tepid heat comes out.

  • 652-674 Atlantic Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11217, USA - Prospect Heights
This is the worst intersection in downtown Brooklyn. Major confusion. There needs to be a turn signal at Sixth Ave onto Atlantic Avenue in both directions. This is a major accident waiting to happen and have many times come close to being hit. You have been warned City of New York. It's a joke that no one is fixing this corner.
