The city's parking enforcement should prevent the apartment complex at the street's end from using the sidewalk for parking, as it obstructs pedestrian access and compromises the sidewalk's integrity. It's frustrating that the city isn't addressing this issue with the property management and is instead considering a permanent gravel parking solution. Moreover, this gravel solution doesn't accommodate individuals with diverse mobility needs, making it challenging for those who rely on wheelchairs or strollers to navigate. The sidewalk was initially removed due to a city utility problem and should be reinstated, with necessary repairs made to damaged areas. Opting for removal and graveling is an unfair decision that impacts our neighbors and residents who depend on 26th street as a direct route to Commercial Ave, as well as, IslandHealth.
