City of Chicopee PLUS

we had a backup in our basement bathroom with sewer water spilling out on the floor from the shower drain and toilet. we had Mr. Rooter over to take a look at was told a tree from the neighbor's home has routes in our pipes that we need to repair and to do so it will be a 10,000.00 cost to us. can the city come out and take a look at this? That is a lot for a homeowner to come up with for a pipe repair.

For 2 years this property has been a problem that the city has not addressed The yard has several fallen dead and dying large trees that pose significant threat to the neighboring properties The bank foreclosed on the property 3 years ago No one takes care of the property the bank should be notified by the city If not then will the city be responsible when the inevitable damage to neighbors property occurs?

The resident at 21 Bonner Street is concerned about the very large oak tree in the tree belt in front of his house. There are very large limbs hanging over his house and he feels it it both dangerous and ruining his roof. Also mentioned that other similar trees on Bonner have been trimmed.

**Safety Hazard**: The trees at Garrity Grove Park are more than 50 years old. My wife and I have lived here for a long time and just in the past 3 years more than 13 trees have fallen in the park. It’s only a matter of time until someone is injured and the citizens of Chicopee have to pay for that lawsuit. There are very old trees adjacent to the home that is on the corner of Mercedes and Peter. Branches continue to fall on their fence, garage and vehicles. The trees in this park are hollow and riddled with bugs. Maple, Pine, Birch and any others. The trees need to be removed, stumps need to be ground, the ground needs to be seeded and a few new trees should be planted next year. But waiting for these trees to just fall and leaving the stumps for bugs, ants, roaches to feed on is simply irresponsible, unsafe and unsanitary as bugs carry illness.
This is the 3rd fence those folks have replaced adjacent to Garrity Park, as my wife and I have watched some of the landscaping folks hit their fence with equipment, fall against it and large branches falling on it. Plus they have to clean up the “PARKS’” leaves every year. That is the parks responsibility. Branches hanging over their yard are of an extreme safety concern before winter.

New neighbors on our street have started cutting down the mature Hemlocks and Spruces on the property ... are there any ordinances or protections for special trees in Chicopee? Not even sure if the workers are a legit arbor business, no trucks with company names have been on site, just men with saws ... it's scary, sad and quite disturbing to see these giant trees come down ...
