  • Fisherman'S Beach - Nantucket
    Please cut back overgrowth of bushes and poison ivy along the fence line and perimeter of Fisherman's Beach Parking Lot. The Metal Bike rack is rusty, has garbage bags and weeds around it and is unsafe and practically unusable to lock bicycles to it. Not sure if you can provide seagull proof trash receptacle but that may help with the littering. Please also consider the area with the bench seating for looking out at the water should be trimmed back. Thank you.

  • Jetties Beach - Nantucket
    Patron is requesting an extra trash bin install at the jetties beach to deter littering near the Natural Resources building at the Tennis Courts. There were once trash barrels there and then they were removed. Given the long parking lot, perhaps another spot to deposit trash and recycling items will deter visitors from littering. Littering is infectious. So I think more receptables are worth a try, right?

    There is no parking on the north side of Upper Main Street, however there are only two signs designating No Parking, covered in lichen, not attracting attention of parkers, and the yellow line is almost non-existant. I made this request last year, and this year April 4th, April 29th, May 15th, receiving DPW request acknowledgments in April and May.

    1. Polpis Road half mile toward sconset from Quidnet turnoff. Size of basketball on east edge of road.

    2. Milestone Rotary 100 ysrds toward Stop and Shop.

    Curbing broken + removed 6 years ago during water main replacement was never restored. This has resulted in a very dangerous condition where there are 3 tire blow outs a week with trucks losing control as they exceed 25mph speed limit. Both front and back tires are cut each time. Nantucket Auto Body can confirm with towing records.Have witnessed pedestrian injuries as a result. Very dangerous for families on bikes. Intersection of Mill St. + Prospect is dedicated bike route but unmarked.
