The previous request was marked CLOSED but nothing was changed or fixed.
Three basins along Forrester (near Emerton) have construction cloth lining them, all of which have several inches of dirt/mud built up. But the problem here is WE CAN'T HAVE THEM ON THIS STREET. We have flooding already when every basin is open. Now we get flooding any time it rains hard.
Moreover: These filters aren't actually working as intended because once the the drains go past capacity any debris trapped by the cloth just gets pushed up and out those basins, disperses into the flooded street and eventually go down the more open drains. It would be one thing if these drains were catching all kinds of construction related debris, and then they got deposited into a dumpster or wherever, but they don't. They only contribute to more frequent flooding and then dump out any debris all at once.
We need them 100% REMOVED. Not looked into, or have better monitoring, but removed.
Thinking contractors are going to monitor these when it rains is nonsensical, first and foremost, because it assumes they'd even be here during any given storm. No one is going to rush out a 2AM to check on the drains at their jobsite. Please have them remove them asap, before we get additional storms coming through.

1 Parallel Street Salem, MA, 01970, USA - City of SalemSubmitted as a catch drain issue because there is no catch drain at the end of our street. This causes significant flooding both from all points on the street, which then flows through a makeshift trench to the wetland area behind the property. This flooding is representative of any significant rain or snow. Submitting to request follow up to explore catch basin installation or mitigation from the city.

4 Emerald Ave Salem, MA 01970, USA - City of SalemThere is no catch basin on Emerald Ave, leaving us with an iced over street that is totally unsafe. The street is left impassable for any potential emergency vehicles. Please install adequate drainage on my street. I sent a request for assistance to snow@salem.com today, but I don't know if anyone is monitoring it.

Catch Basin IssueAcknowledged61 Dearborn Street Salem, Massachusetts, 01970 - City of Salemthere seems to be a problem with the grading of the road to the right of the storm drain next to my driveway which limits the drainage and creates a backup of water. The grading is such that a few leaves can block the passage of water. This is real issue esp during winter.
