Hello,
We would like to ask if we can plant a tree (like red maple) in the mow strip between the sidewalk and the street in front of our house.
If so, what steps will we have to take?

Resident stated she would like a tree planted on her yard. If possible a Japanese Lilac tree.

This neighborhood has lost significant trees over the last few years, surrey, perishing, auburn and moffat. Would it be possible to get a few replacements. I'm sure more trees will come down this year and next.

This location next to the Phillips School on Washington Square South (84-88 Essex St.) is close enough to the Hawthorne Boulevard neighborhood to be replanted through the NS CDC Tree Replacement Fund payment. Consider planting a matched pair of tall shade trees symmetrically to frame the school.

The May 2025 storm damaged the 8-year old elm on the corner of Flint and Federal and the whole tree was removed. The elm was growing exceedingly well so let's plan forward to a large successful tree that needs a much larger tree pit that extends backwards from the curb into the wide open courtyard of the church
