I don't know if sinkhole is the best selection. The storm drain in front of 70 Valley St is slowing starting to sink into the ground. I know there are bigger issues like snow removal, raising taxes and a city seal. To locate it, find the terribly rusted hydrant in front of 70 Valley St. Yes, it has been shoveled out.
I know nothing- but- my uneducated from a construction standpoint brain believes this is caused by the water main break on Cauldron Court last month. During that break, water rushed under Cauldron Court and came out of the ground near the Valley St/Cauldron Court corner. In addition to the storm drain slowly sinking, there is a large crack that goes directly across the Cauldron Court and Valley St intersection. That crack was there already, appears a trench was done a long time ago, but that crack is now much wider and more pronounced.

This is located on the side walk in front of our home next to the telephone pole. There is no caution tape or cone to say there is a hole here. We did not see anyone do this or know why it’s there! This is very dangerous especially if someone walks and does not see it!

Sinkhole at seawall between Clam Shack and public restroom, Salem Willows Park. Hazard and Liability. Deepest point is approximately 3 feet.
Cones placed around the hole are not going to prevent a toddler from falling in or stumbling over the wall. This needs to be fenced off.

Resident reported a sinkhole on Willow Avenue (didn't specify exact location).

resident called that there is a leak where DPW did some water testing at the corner of Hancock and Cabot St.

Hole is right out front of my house 5 Sable rd west, Salem, is getting bigger, need to be fix please.

Another sink hole appeared. This is a problem area. There is also sinking and cracking of the adjacent concrete. This is at the entrance to our driveway. There has also been a sink hole about ten feet from this hole, in driveway, in line with this hole. It has been filled multiple times and has been reported before. In addition, our foundation floor has a massive crack in it along the outside wall to this work. Unconfirmed if it is related damage. This is new damage.

Of the 3 traffic cones that have been marking the sink hole between the bathrooms and the Clam Shack, 2 of them are on the beach over the wall no doubtlessly releasing micro-plastics into the ocean. Because this is an ongoing issue, perhaps it's time to either replace these cones with something more substantial that can't easily be thrown over the wall, or, preferably, actually fix the hole and the cause instead of the Mayor doing a self-serving photo op during an election year.

Please place a new tall marker on this sinking grate to warn drivers. The one that's marked it for months now, is on the ground broken. It appears this grate is not going to be repaired anytime soon. As there's been multiple reports, spanning from 2024 to 2025 now. So it's important to mark it, so no one else suffers damage, as I did last year. Thank you
