Fairmount St. should have a stop sign at Nursery Street.

Many drivers come down Nursery Street every day in order to get to Beverly via the Kernwood Bridge. I think every logical driver would assume that the stop signs on Nursery (at Fairmount and Appleton) are "all-way stops".

Traffic on Appleton, crossing Nursey, does have a stop sign in both directions. But traffic on Fairmount does not have stop signs in either direction as they cross Nursery.

Yes, it works as it is currently designed, but it's inconsistent, and I see problems in this area all the time, because the two intersections are set up differently.

A more consistent setup of the two intersections as you travel down Nursery Street would make for a safer situation for everyone.

No northbound signal for bicycles on Flint to cross over Bridge. Bicycles forced to either dismount and hit pedestrian crossing button, wait for a car to activate NB signal or run the red light once traffic clears.
This intersection was just redone this year and feeds into a new mixed use path so it's very odd how unsafe it is to bike here.

Can you please get together with Swampscott and figure out how to make the lights at Vinnin Square work better? Three light cycles to make it through the intersection this afternoon. The pedestrian signal comes on even though no one pushes the walk button. And if you could actually pave the roads so driving isn’t like going over an Olympic moguls course, that would be great.
  • 12 Barcelona Ave Salem, MA, 01970, USA - City of Salem
The timing of the southbound light on highland Ave at Marlborough road was recently changed to be too short, having traffic up all the way to willson Ave. It is now taking at least a half hour to travel a mile.
  • Highland Ave & Marlborough Rd Salem, MA, 01970, USA - City of Salem
Pedestrian crossing button says “Wait” and light clicks on but does not work to signal for crossing. 5 light cycles just passed and we can’t cross Highland Ave safely from bus stop side.
  • 2 Traders Way Salem, MA, 01970, USA - City of Salem
The lights are out of timing. Only a few cars can go left onto Marlborough road. This is causing significant back up to get through Highland Ave. The signal was working until the last few weeks.
  • Highland Ave Opp Walmart Salem, MA 01970, USA - City of Salem
when exiting the parking lot of Walmart, the traffic signal seems to not work all the time. I watched it skip at least four cycles.
  • 18 Barcelona Avenue Salem, MA, 01970, USA - City of Salem
Flint and Bridge st. Lights change 10seconds or less causing traffic back ups
  • 66 Marlborough Road Salem, MA, 01970, USA - City of Salem
Traffic light at Marlborough Road and Osborne Hill Drive has not been working for several days. It’s flashing and is making it challenging for the residents of Strongwater to exit. Cars are speeding down the road making it dangerous for pedestrians and access to McGrath Park.

    EXTREMELY dangerous intersection.

It is well known by residents of the area that many commuters use Green St. as a cut behind for the Lafayette Street traffic. On numerous occasions, vehicles completely blow through the stop sign and do not even bother to look. This is a densely populated area with many children and pets.

Consideration should be made to making the street an Do Not Enter - Abutters Only during the hours of 2PM until 7PM and from Monday to Friday from the area of Summit and Clifton, Summit and Willow, West and Plymouth as well as Green and Eden.

This solution would not impact residents but deter commuters from flying down the backroads to avoid heavy traffic. A prime example of this can be found in Cambridge MA in the Alewife area of Route 16 and Route 2 at Alewife Brooke Parkway and Whittemore Ave.

This would dramatically increase the safety of residents and similar solutions could be implemented in various other parts of the City as well.
