  • New Derby St Salem, MA, 01970, USA - City of Salem
The green left turn signal from Derby Street onto Lafayette Street has been out for almost two weeks. All other lights including the yellow warning left turn signal still work.
  • 1–3 Ravenna Ave Salem MA 01970, United States - City of Salem
Light sensors are not working properly. They are better than they were a week or two ago, but the green lights for Barnes and Ravenna to turn into Highland are extremely short.
  • Mile 18.9 State Rte 114 W Salem, MA, 01970, USA - City of Salem
The light at the intersection stays red for an extremely long time at night. Cars pile up and you’re waiting for several minutes.
  • 24 Aborn St Salem MA 01970, United States - City of Salem
I have brought this up to several channels with still no resolution to the 65 mph + cars traveling down Aborn St - speed bumps need to be implemented!!! Or a sign stating it is not a through way as this seems to be the new cut through to avoid these massive speeds!
  • 87 Loring Ave Salem MA 01970, United States - City of Salem
Pedestrian crosswalk light signal is perpendicular to oncoming traffic and cannot be seen from an oncoming car It's been turned sideways This has happened before It should be secured so it cannot be turned by a pedestrian
  • Washington St Salem, MA, 01970, USA - City of Salem

The signal for traffic coming from Bridge St onto Washington is often not working properly. I can recall 5 or so times in the last 3 months when I've turned off of Bridge Street and waited for a red light that never turns green. I'll wait for 5 minutes, watch several iterations of Washington St traffic ebb and flow, and eventually have to run the red in order to move on with my life. (There is a No Turn on Red sign at this intersection, so you are stuck waiting to make a right even when there are no cars in sight.)

Please fix the sensors/logic at this light so that it properly detects cars attempting to enter Washington St. and the light turns green at the first opportunity to stop cross traffic.

I'll note that I've experienced this mostly, if not exclusively, at night. The light generally seems to work during the day.

  • Bridge St & St Peter St Salem, MA, 01970, USA - City of Salem
The light at the corner of St. Peter and Bridge Street has not been working for over a week now. It only flashes. It is dangerous for people taking a left onto Bridge from St. Peter, especially during rush hour. There is going to be an accident, if there hasn't been one already.
  • Bridge St Salem MA 01970, United States - City of Salem
Signal has no power- not flashing or working- two intersections

The traffic light outside of the MBTA garage is causing a ton of issues. The red light (leaning the garage) is so long that I have personally witnessed three "left on reds" this week. The timing or sensors need to be fixed. Salem claims to be transportation friendly yet driving home for the train during peak times is a horror show forcing drivers to make illegal turns or wait forever to leave for home. Figure it out, please.
  • Lafayette St & Washington St Salem, MA, 01970, USA - City of Salem
This image was taken from my bedroom where I hear cars laying on their horns around the clock. Drivers cannot see the posted sign to turn right after red. The red solid light needs to be turned into a BLINKING red light so people know to proceed into the intersection after stopping, and needs to be a solid red arrow during the crosswalk signal. This is a safety issue for pedestrians because cars do not stay stopped for the pedestrian walk signal because they believe they can go through the red light. There needs to be a clear distinction for drivers when to stay STOPPED and when they can proceed with caution. This is an extremely inefficient light and a danger to the public.
  • Rt-107 Salem, MA, 01970, USA - City of Salem
As a cyclist, making a left from Sargent Ayube Memorial Drive onto Bridge Street, the signal does not work. There is a market indicating that bicycles should wait at the head of the queue to make a left, but the sensor does not detect a bicycle. I waited three light cycles before proceeding on red-for-left, because I could not get a left green light.

The not so “smart lights” are malfunctioning. I sat through 5 light cycles this morning to go 150 yards from Washington st to St Peter st. They appear to be doing the same thing this evening.
