A light is being commissioned on this intersection and is totally unnecessary. There is already a signal at 2700N and Redwood that allows traffic to merge onto/across Redwood within 200ft of this new signal. Redwood already has too many stop lights!

I’m a regular user of the east-bound 9000 S left turn signal at 700 W. Can it be programmed for left turns off 9000 S to north-bound 700 W to a blinking yellow light that lets you to turn if the oncoming west-bound traffic allows? I have had to wait an extra full cycle of the intersection lights and then some with a hard red light that only allows me to turn left after all the other intersection lights have done a full cycle.

I’m guessing the concern is that oncoming west-bound traffic is only visible as it starts coming down the hill. I believe there is plenty of time to see oncoming traffic to be able to negotiate that turn. It might be different for a semi-truck, but I have never seen a semi using that left turn lane before.

    Thanks,
    . . . Ray Aune

With the 5 week closure of MVC/800 West this left turn is getting a lot more use already. The left turn is only allowing about half the cars through and the non signalized intersections nearby are backing up as well. I realize there were previous complaints about this light but please re-evaluate the usage for the closure. It's likely to be even worse during peak hours this evening.

Please install additional warning lights at the crest of the hill. The current warning lights are too close to the signal and cannot be seen until over the crest of the hill. (And are partially blocked by signage). This does not allow enough time to adequately stop if traffic is already stopped and back up.
There is significant risk to public safety that can be mitigated by earlier warning light distribution. Additionally even further out a blinking yellow sign indicating “new traffic signal ahead” would be very helpful.

Overall I very much appreciate having the new signal there, but it’s universally agreed that especially the north bound warning lights are ineffective in their current position and a second set needs to be installed at the crest of the hill.

The light turns yellow like 3 seconds after it turns green. The prepare to stop light stars flashing the second the light turns green. It takes 4 light Cycles to turn left.

Turning signals bangerter NB to 13400 WB and Bangerter SB to 13400 EB are poorly placed and angled wrong. They are very difficult to see while stopped at the ramp.
I travel this every day and everyday there are problems not knowing where the signals are.

There is a “no turn on red” sign at the bottom of the HOV lane off-ramp at 400 S, going northbound on I-15. On nights when there are events downtown, traffic dangerously backs up onto I-15 because cars can’t clear through the intersection to go right onto 400 S (eastbound) even when there is ample space. I sat through six light cycles just to get off the freeway.

I’m sure someone thought they had a good reason for putting the “no turn on red” sign there. But the situation it is causing is far more dangerous than whatever it is trying to prevent. Please remove it.

Every day when driving to work, I get stopped at this light and have to stay there for almost 30 seconds with nobody else crossing the light. This is similar on any other time of the day there is one single person that needs to go straight on 5400 and immediately stops traffic on Baccuss Highway which mind you is going 60 mph. They have to slow down and stop for this one vehicle. Then the light proceeds to stay red for an additional almost 30 seconds with nobody else needing to cross or turn left at 5400 and the Highway then as soon as it turns green, there is another random car that pulls up and then we repeat the process. Is there anyway that you could change the timing of this light to have cross traffic from 5400 wait at least 10 seconds to turn red so other people can accumulate. And then only have the light be red for a small amount of time. In all my time living in magna and working in West Jordan and driving back-and-forth I have never seen more than three cars need to get through and the light and it is set for 10 or more. Is it possible you guys could go watch this light for a day and see what I’m talking about. Is it possible that we can get the timing changed to be more efficient?

Traffic Signal Timing Issue - 4700 South at 5600 West (Eastbound)
I am requesting an evaluation and adjustment of the traffic signal timing at the intersection of 4700 South and 5600 West.
    Issue:
During weekday mornings between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM, eastbound traffic on 4700 South consistently backs up at this intersection and requires multiple signal cycles to clear. This issue is isolated to the eastbound direction only—all other traffic directions (westbound, northbound, and southbound) clear completely during each signal cycle.
    Impact:
This timing issue adds several minutes to the morning commute for residents living west of 5600 West who travel eastbound. The backup appears to be caused by insufficient green light duration for the eastbound direction during peak morning hours.
    Specific Request:
Please evaluate the signal timing for eastbound 4700 South during the 7:00-9:00 AM weekday period and consider extending the green light phase to accommodate the higher morning traffic volume in this direction.
    Additional Information:

This issue does not occur during other times of the day
The problem is consistent on weekday mornings
Only the eastbound direction is affected

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
