  • 2400 San Jose Ave Alameda, California, 94501 - Alameda
There have been numerous accidents, and numerous almost collisions between drivers. Drivers are using San Jose Ave. as a way to avoid traffic on main streets and it’s causing a dangerous situation on the 2400 and the 2500 blocks. They’re driving so fast and have nearly sideswiped cars parked. We need law-enforcement to monitor or add speed bumps. Other blocks on San Jose Ave have roadblocks yet our blocks people using it as a highway. Something needs to be done before someone gets hurt
  • Clement Ave & Mulberry St Alameda, CA, 94501, USA - Alameda
Hearing too many car horns due to close-calls. Aside from the speeding issue on Clement, coming out of Mulberry onto Clement is very difficult. Please extend the red curb. This has been an issue for a YEAR. We, the residents don't need more street parking; we need one less street parking spot for a safe exit.
  • Maitland Dr & Melrose Ave Alameda, CA, 94502, USA - Alameda
Large commercial trucks especially semi trucks are not allowed on Maitland Drive. The new roundabout installed in the intersection of Mecartney and Maitland. It will be very dangerous for a semi truck to maneuver around a small roundabout. Maitland Drive for many years does not allow large trucks with signage. Picture taken is a semi truck with company name Southwest Traders entering Maitland Drive from Harbor Bay Parkway and in the image clearly a no trucks signage, trucks driver ignores it.
  • Clement Ave & Willow St Alameda, CA, 94501, USA - Alameda
    Hello,
Today I was almost run over by a driver in the cross walk near my home at the corner of Clement and Willow while trying to cross the street with my family. Cars simply refuse to stop at this pedestrian crossing and I have had so many encounters with cars ignoring pedestrians that I am compelled to report it now. As more families move into the new housing developments here it is only a matter of time before this location sees a tragedy.
  • 1440 Park St Alameda, California, 94501 - Alameda
More of the same…Uber Eats drivers parking in the bike lane making it impossible to ride a bike to pick up my own food.
  • Aughinbaugh Way & Sheffield Way Alameda, California, 94502 - Alameda
Walking my dog, I was witness to a near miss where a speeding car at Auginbaugh and Sheffield narrowly missed a student attempting to cross the street.
The car did not slow down and sped through the intersection continuing through the school.
There are many reports of speeding at this intersection and the reply is always the same and nothing is done.
Will it take someone getting injured or killed to listen to this feedback and simply install stop signs at this intersection?
It is frankly incomprehensible that a school intersection would not have a 3 way stop.
  • 1626 Walnut St Alameda, California, 94501 - Alameda
This corner, crossing Buena Vista to McKinley Park is so dangerous We need a stop light I was crossing with my dog 2 days ago and checked carefully before entering the crosswalk. We were halfway through the crosswalk when a car appeared out of nowhere. (I think it must have passed the cars that were actually at the stop sign illegally) and shot in front of us missing my dog by a hairs breath. I screamed so loud that the driver actually stopped and then decided to just keep going instead of acknowledging that he/she had almost run over us
This is not the first or even second time this has happened. This corner always has people zooming through it. They don’t actually stop at the stop sign. They roll up to the stop sign and then keep going. Traffic on Buena Vista is so fast. We need a stop light or speed cameras to slow people down
  • Peach St & San Jose Ave Alameda, CA, 94501, USA - Alameda
This street needs more visibility and safety for those walking. It’s dark at night, missing a street light, cars now getting broken into and stolen yearly. Kids walk home everyday from the middle school and elementary school with cars driving recklessly fast. At night, we avoid walking or crossing the street in this area because people drive too fast and there is low visibility, especially during the winter months. We have complained for years as a community with zero response from the city. This is not acceptable our tax dollars need to be used to protect our community and our families that live here. Speed bumps, street lights and more safety measures need to be put in place.
  • Chestnut St & Clement Ave Alameda, CA, 94501, USA - Alameda
Cars do not slow or stop for pedestrians. I was almost hit in the crosswalk. This happens both day and night.
  • 2631 San Jose Ave Alameda, California, 94501 - Alameda

I am, once again, alerting the city of Alameda about an unsafe intersection at the corner of Pearl St. and San Jose Ave. My house is on the corner of Pearl and San Jose.

This afternoon an SUV driving West on San Jose was hit by a car who did not stop at the stop sign at Pearl. The SUV was spun around and crashed into a parked car on San Jose.

I hear screeches or near misses at least twice a week. I have heard or seen several crashes over the years. My friend's car was parked on Pearl a few years ago and was almost totaled by a car that did not stop at the Pearl St. stop sign. This is an on-going issue. San Jose is a popular bike and pedestrian route, especially kids going to and from school (Otis, Lincoln, St. Joe's and Alameda High).

I am so concerned about the safety of this intersection. The traffic has most definitely increased since Versailles has become a "slow street".

The stop signs on Pearl St. need to have been visibility - perhaps some reflectors that grab drivers' attention. Also, many people assume this intersection is a 4 way stop. If the stop signs on Pearl could have a "Cross traffic does not stop" below the stop sign, I think this could help drivers awareness. Cars often go far above the speed limit on San Jose. Ideally speed bumps would be put in, but I know the city seems to be opposed to this.

Thank you for reading this. Please do something.

  • Pearl St & San Jose Ave Alameda, CA, 94501, USA - Alameda
Just witnessed another near-miss between two cars. Please at a minimum put up signs that say “through traffic does not stop.” And please consider making this a 4-way stop.
  • Lincoln Ave & Walnut St Alameda, CA, 94501, USA - Alameda
Needs to be a 4 way stop. Even with the light crosswalk, cars still do not stop for pedestrians.
