On Webster, one of the busiest street in daytime including non rush times. Green light can be tricky due to how change the light this quick leads to unsafe intersection such as ran through red light in the hurry. Perhaps those red-light cameras mess up on the lanes could cause change traffic light too fast, if so this might to be adjustment. Plus, the pedestrian signal light no longer has an automatic pedestrian signal light since recent change. This need to be lengthening the green light to the clear the traffic moving through this intersection.

About a month ago, the automatic pedestrian signal during green lights stopped when crossing Webster on BV Even if the walk signal is on one side, the other side does not show a walk signal As a result, the intersection is much less safe for pedestrians Now, people are walking during green lights without the walk signal

In addition, the LPI is inconsistent when crossing Webster on south side of street

I respectfully request you reconsider this decision if made for traffic engineering purposes If this was a mistake, then please revert to previously programmed settings with automatic pedestrian signals during the day and automatic LPI (such as all the other intersections further south on Webster) Thanks

The traffic light to cross Webster and Pacific has multiple problems. When a pedestrian presses the button to cross Webster, it responds immediately by beginning the countdown (this is a good thing) but when cars are waiting to cross Webster it does not begin the countdown. The wait for cars is VERY long and the time allowed to cross Webster is very short before it turns red again. There are almost always 5 or more cars waiting and most of them are making a left turn onto Webster so they have to wait for pedestrians. This means at most 2 of the cars get thru the light while the other 3 or more cars are stuck waiting for the next green light which takes a really long time. It is always tempting to get out of my car and run over to the cross walk to press the button so the countdown will start to get the green light. Please adjust the sensor to start the countdown sooner when it detects a car on Pacific waiting to cross Webster. ALSO if there is a way to detect how many cars are lined up on Pacific waiting to cross Webster and lengthen the time the light stays green so the cars can actually get thru the intersection on the green light. The less important issue ... for some reason the lights were changed to give the pedestrian green about 5 seconds before the cars get a green - I assume this was deliberate to give pedestrians a head start - but many/most cars now start going thru the red light as soon as the pedestrian gets the green. I see it a lot lately and I worry that it is creating more problems than it is solving to have the 5 second difference between the green for pedestrians and the green for cars.

This seems to have been reported numerous times by others as well as myself which was marked as resolved

The signal at Sherman and Atlantic is an absolute mess Timing is not good and creating traffic back up to nearly Webster street This has been newly installed and has created more congestion than before You (ALAMEDA) need to reevaluate the timing on this light

Additionally it is creating unsafe driving People are driving in the bike lanes and against traffic flow just to make a light after waiting 10 minutes to get across

Bicycle detection did not work at approximately 7:45 pm on 2/26/25.
  • Central Ave & High St Alameda, CA, 94501, USA - Alameda

For cars going throuch Central Ave, the traffic lights have a long delay between the eastbound and the westbound directions. This is presumably to give westbound traffic a chance to turn left first, but in reality what happens is that it's hard to know why traffic in the opposite direction is not moving, and many times drivers end up taking a gamble when turning, putting pedestrians at risk. It's even more risky these days with more pedestrians in the area going to the Christmas Tree Lane, but it's a year-round problem.

I'd recommend not having a delay (aside from the typical delay after pedestrian green lights) between the two directions to reduce confusion.

As an aside, I'd like to request adding bollards to the demarcated curb extensions in this corner, like other corners in the area already have.

The new traffic lights at Encinal and Broadway. And at Park St and Blanding are poorly timed. Traffic backs up constantly
  • Atlantic Ave Alameda, California, 94501 - Alameda
Now that the right-hand lane is right turn only, the middle traffic light in the photo should match the right one. Change all the lenses of the middle light to arrows and synchronize the middle and right-hand lights. When illuminated as in this photo, it confuses drivers about whether they can turn or not, resulting in honking and drivers impulsively turning right in front of bikers and pedestrians. Along with making the lights match, this could use one or two of illuminated “no right turn” signals like at Atlantic and Sherman.

The bike sign should be on the same side as the "Push button for signal" sign. It doesn't do much good facing the street. NW corner of Wilma Chan and Atlantic.
  • 1900 Park St Alameda CA 94501, United States - Alameda
Evening of 11/21 the bike detection was not working in westward direction. I pushed the ped button, and the ped light activated, but the bike signal never came on.

I love the new Clement cycletrack but unfortunately the traffic signal didn't detect us on our bikes we we were headed eastbound at Park today, and never gave us a green light. The westbound direction here was working fine.
