  • Dogs off the leashAcknowledged
Spruce Street Princeton, New Jersey - Princeton
Two dog owners have their dogs running off the lease every morning at around 7am in Spruce Street park. The dogs harass me and my dog while we are walking. The owners only call their dogs but continue to let them run around without leashes.

While in route to another call, patrol observed a black lab walking around the roadway with a lease connected to it. Another patrol responded but the dog was no longer in the area.

For several months, water has been flowing off this property over the sidewalk, saturating the grass on either side. There's an orange traffic cone (also here for several months) to alert pedestrians of the water, but no action has been taken to solve the problem.
  • 253 Moore St Princeton, NJ 08540, USA - Princeton North
Moore Street, between Franklin and Guyot, is so full of potholes and uneven terrain it is difficult to ride on it (with a bicycle) and especially dangerous at nights when there are no street lights. This must be on the township's radar, no? I have injured myself far too many times riding home after work. Please look into re-paving this section of the street! Thanks.
  • Jefferson Rd & Mt Lucas Rd Princeton, NJ, 08540, USA - Princeton North

The intersection between Mount Lucas Road and Jefferson Road remains one of the most dangerous in the town. Drivers on Mount Lucas often assume that Jefferson Road has a four-way and continue right through the intersection even when crossing traffic is approaching. Jefferson Road is extremely wide here, so crossing it on foot takes muc longer than crossing an average residential road in Princeton. And on top of all that, traffic coming off State Road is still in highway mode when they go around the bed - it's going quickly and has little time to see and stop for pedestrians or crossing traffic.

Improvements really need to be made here. I think the simplest and cheapest way to fix it is to put a small island in the center of the crosswalk that goes across Jefferson, like the one recently installed at the intersection between Terhune Road and Mount Lucas Road. This would:

    (1) Give pedestrians a much shorter distance to cross before they're in the relative safety of the traffic island
    (2) Visually indicate to traffic coming off State Road that they've entered a residential area and will need to slow down to navigate the gap between the island and the sides of the road
    (3) Encourage Jefferson Road traffic to slow down when approaching the intersection

Making this a full four-way stop would also help. I live nearby and hear screeching brakes on a regular basis; accidents are frequent too. When I walk, I take longer routes to avoid crossing here.

Please make these changes. The Terhune Road / Mount Lucas Rd intersection is a great model.

  • 90-198 Randall Rd Princeton, NJ, 08540, USA - Princeton North
Anticipating increased traffic on Terhune, Please paint in a crosswalk from Randall Rd across Terhune to the sidewalk along the N side of Terhune. There are downhill approaches on Terhune to this crossing in both directions. These hills constitute a danger because cars tend to speed up when going down and the sight line is limited. A person walking out of Randall must currently engage in dangerous J-walking to reach a sidewalk. Thanks.

Would you please install handicap accessible curbs (curb cuts) at this location? Thank you!

  • 65 Witherspoon St Princeton, NJ, 08542, USA - Princeton

I wonder what the Princeton municipality’s plans are to correct the problem with this crosswalk.

Did the contractor mistakenly Elon it the curb cut or will the crosswalk be relocated?

This side of Paul Robeson needs to be narrowed — at the very least with a striped white line — because there is zero way cars actually slow to 15 MPH as they approach the intersection with Chambers. Ideally the Township should add a sidewalk. I’ve seen folks walking along the street here or on the tree roots, they really deserve a proper sidewalk. Would be the best way to get cars to drive the speed limit too.
