This home has its sump pump discharge going right onto the sidewalk. Year round there is either wet, slimy water on the sidewalk that is slippery or in the winter it is icy. Can the resident be asked to move the discharge pipe so it is not causing a hazard for residents walking by. Also, the property has a low apple tree that overhangs onto the sidewalk. My husband was scratched on his face walking by the other day. Can the city trim this or is this the responsibility of the homeowner. Thank you!

several of the drainage basins on Winthrop Street have been Drain basins have been clogged for years, and are causing serious hazards to cyclist pedestrians and automotives. Water floods down the hill during rain storms and causes icing during the cold winter months.

This is erosion from Norwich Circle, probably from the grass strip on the westbound side of Norwich Circle where it slopes down to Grove Street. There is gully forming where there used to be a grass strip on Norwich Circle.

Sand, native pebbles, and gravel washing down onto Grove Street. Probably OK to leave it. But it might be better to use the natural sediments to re-fill the gully on the grass strip, i.e. sweep them manually and then transport them by wheelbarrow the short distance.

The grass strip between the sidewalk and road is perhaps public property. But perhaps the abutter(s) could be encouraged to maintain it.

Mechanical sweeping has probably missed the sediments on the right side (in the photo). The similar sediments across the street are new.

I believe I recently saw this exact same issue tersely posted earlier on this site but was unable to find it and it was closed to comments. I wanted to add a photo.

The water drain is located on the raised crosswalk and thus higher than street level. For years, water discharge from the nearby building has frequently run to the street and pooled next to the drain. Unaware pedestrians on the sidewalk get splashed and I've witnessed cyclists wipe out on the resulting black ice during winter.

Sidewalk has been a sheet of ice for days. it's impossible to pass with pets, kids and for the elderly. A cone isn't going to cut it. This house needs to or the city needs to address the situation. Its unsafe to be forced to walk in the street with oncoming cars speeding by

Sewage crate filled with leaves and a dead animal. Across from 35 Doonan St. near fire hydrant.
  • 68–98 Fulton Spring Rd Medford MA 02155, United States - Medford
The corner of Fulton and Fulton Spring floods with 6ish inches of water after heavy rain because it is not fully draining through the grates there. I've tried removing the leaves from the grate but it doesn't seem to help the drainage. Cars parked there become inaccessible.
  • Hicks Ave & Willis Ave Medford, Massachusetts, 02155 - Medford

  • 11 South St Medford 02155, United States - Medford

The city just dug this area up to repair drainage. The ground thawed and soil adjacent the work area has collapsed into a sink hole.

This might catch a persons leg in the dark, and might also undermine the recent repairs. Suggest an engineer go take a look

Tried calling DPW but couldn't get through

Our frequent drainage issue is severe today with heavy rains At noon, the entire road between 14 and 15 is flooded onto the sidewalks now and we have a few hours to go with heavy rain I recommend putting warning for cars not todrive down/cut through the street

I imagine even after the rain stops it will take a while to drain
