The tree in front of my house at 388 Norfolk St (a redbud) was planted approximately 10 years ago. With its wide canopy it has been repeatedly damaged by large vehicles and is in very bad shape. It likely needs to be replaced.

I believe this tree needs to come down ASAP, as it is in imminent danger of dropping a massive branch on my house.

The tree has one branch left. That branch is very large and overhangs the front of my house at 5 Maple Ave. At the base of the branch, there is a substantial upward-facing hole (visible in one of the attached photos).

Due to the hole rainwater freely enters the interior of the branch, so it is rotting from the inside out. This rot is very near the base of the branch, where the load is the heaviest.

The tree dropped its other major branch on my neighbor’s front porch on October 6.

I believe the tree is a Norway Maple, an invasive species.

All of the mature trees along the Main St. south facing side of enormous 1 Main St. have died during the month of August, approximately 20 mature trees, all the way from the Longfellow Bridge to Third St. Possibly due to a gas leak in the soil from new construction?
