Walking past the law school and staying to the right on the path, a young woman on bike decided to pass me on the right. So close she clipped me with the u-lock on her bicycle. Had I lost my balance we would have both fallen over toward traffic lane. Cyclists do not know the rules of the road and are endangering pedestrians, with the encouragement of the city - perhaps they need better instruction?

Delivery drivers constantly parking in between the No Parking any time signs outside of 1 Davenport. They don’t care they are parking illegally and blocking the driveway from residents. I’d love to see more parking enforcement here between 5-9pm to deter lazy drivers who don’t want to find legal parking. Every time they are confronted, the response is the same “I’m only here to pick up food, I’ll be gone in a few minutes” so they acknowledge they are parking illegally, but think it is okay because of their justification.

Forward this to the CPD too. It’s not worth our time to call every single time a driver is blocking the driveway, because they will be long gone before an officer actually decides to show up. This is incredibly frustrating to deal with on its own.

If CPD/traffic enforcement continues to ignore this problem, I’m afraid drivers will begin to have their vehicles damaged as a result of their inability to respect not blocking a driveway. Nobody wants that I’m sure, so please do the right thing and get someone here to address this problem.

The restaurant that is encouraging drivers to park illegally is called Sugar & Spice. They refuse to do anything about the problem by the way.

This has already been reported multiple times to CPD and the owners of the restaurant. Nobody seems to want to address it, which means it will fall into the citizens who live here, and you don’t want that to happen…I guarantee it.

Again the gridlock continues on Harvard st near Maynard school very tight squeezes for delivery trucks and wide vehicles to pass and a safety risk nothing is being done to improve this area in the mornings and afternoons on school days

The A&E gas station keeps blocking resident parking on Huron Ave by storing commercial vehicles on the street.

There are poles in the middle of side walk. My partner who uses a wheelchair can never use it. He has to use the road and that is a hazard. The sidewalk in the entire street is broken or not wheelchair friendly or is broken and have cracks.

This is a dual sidewalk defect/planting/botanical obstruction request:

The circular bulge in the width of the street here presents an opportunity to expand the west sidewalk (right side of image) and plant more street trees. Currently the very poor sidewalk conditions (too narrow especially in summer, poor paving condition, circuitous walking route) push pedestrians into the street. At this link between the well trafficked Upland Road and Richdale Ave, the neighborhood's families and elders are at elevated risk while walking in the road. Road appears excessively wide, even with parked cars on both sides. The bottom half of the street would also love some more shade and permeable surfaces.

  • Foster St Cambridge, Massachusetts, 02138 - West Cambridge
There are multiple cars abusing visitor parking permits for commuting and parking on Foster and Brown streets, exceeding the limits for visitor permits. Would it be possible to increase enforcement in this area? Thanks.

Why can a commercial truck have a nice n-commercial parking permit???

Also, this parking permit is expired?

  • 14-22 Walden St Cambridge, MA, 02140, USA - North Cambridge

When cars turn onto Walden from Mass Ave, they hit over 40 mph speeding away from the intersection. There will be more traffic redirected onto our already busy, narrow street when the bike lanes are installed. There is senior housing on Walden and young families who pass through on their way to the playground or to Danehy Park. There have been more cyclists on our street, too.

We have been asking for some time now for traffic calming infrastructure on Walden, such as a speed bump, a "your speed is" sign, or at least more signage instructing drivers what the speed limit actually is (some people genuinely do not know if there is a lack of signage). Councilor Sobrinho-Wheeler was helpful achieving the "hill obstructs view sign" at the top of the hill on Walden nearish to Richdale but was not reelected. How are these interventions going now?

I have been tapped by a car bumper as a pedestrian crossing at Walden and Mass Ave and had some near misses crossing further up, such as at Mead and Walden. I have seen pedestrians nearly decked as cars turn left onto Walden from Mass Ave (cars have the blinky yellow light even though pedestrians across Walden have the walk light).

Trucks hit high speeds, sometimes very early in the morning, waking neighbors up (including myself, even with an AC on and a fan and a sound machine...I'm not proud of my overnight energy usage!). Trucks also turn left onto Walden despite signage instructing otherwise- I hope this will be further addressed when the protected lanes are installed to prevent even greater infractions?

When trucks are on Walden they block traffic if there are two trucks in opposite directions, or if they are behind trash trucks on trash day. They also shake our apartments basically every 5 minutes. Walden is a narrow street with triple-deckers and multifamilies built with very little setbacks. It is a residential street which was not built to handle these traffic flows, unlike the Mass Ave commercial corridor.

It sounds like there may be changes to Mead Street, but what about Walden? I am (hopefully wrongly!) assuming that the Mead Street change will send more traffic down Walden considering where the signs have been placed--between Mead and Walden--so, where is the Walden love? Traffic is back and back to its usual pattern of gridlock on Walden from Mass Ave. up to Richdale (who doesn't love an idling car?). The Assistant Commissioner at the DPW was helpful in providing me with an intern's email, but I honestly never received responses after emailing them. Thanks for your attention to this- North Cambridge is changing and we need to ensure that the narrow, residential streets absorbing more traffic flows for safety-guided interventions are safe, too.

Can you post a sign telling people not to cross in front of the bus and to use the crosswalk right behind the bus please? And talk to the MBTA to train their drivers to exit to the right?

These people are clueless or simply inconsiderate. Everybody on the bus has to wait for them to wait for all the cars to pass them as they jaywalk to the high occupancy tower.
