Due to recent changes we are experiencing extreme oder issues coming from a fish processing facility at the end of our street. The odor is so strong that we cannot open our windows, be outside of our home, or drive down our road without being completely overwhelmed and nauseous at the smell. My work clothes have retained an odor just from walking my dog outside. Because of the smell and rotting fish waste, there are extreme amounts if Flys, vermin, and rats that carry fleas and disease into a residential area. The dumpsters are are at crooked angles and on the road. There isn't adequate space for them nor are they behind a protective barrier. We have to look at the overflow, Flys and fish waste. The gutter is hanging off the building creating an eyesore and a danger as well. There is a large piece of metal door leaned up against the property that is also not secured and poses additional dangers to children in the neighborhood. While we know that this is a commercial property. We are sure that this type of activity can't possibly be allowed or introduced into an established residential neighborhood.
To reiterate, the smell is absolutely unacceptable the dumpsters are not up to code and the rotting bio-hazard material in the dumpsters cannot possibly be safe , healthy or acceptable to were people have their homes and live their lives. If this continues this dramatically impacts the value of our homes along with inability for us to have guests and clients at our home for social and business meetings

Once again, there is a strong oil and gas smell in the air coming from HowCo Environmental Services. This has been happening every day for years, making it impossible to take a walk or simply enjoy being outdoors in the neighborhood. The Florida DEP has confirmed that HowCo has been operating without authorization since August 3rd, yet they continue to run as though the law doesn’t apply to them. Their expired permit should have stopped operations, but instead, the community is still breathing in fumes that burn the throat and fill the air with odors. How is this still being allowed to continue? We deserve clean air, safety, and enforcement of the law — not daily exposure to pollution and disregard from those responsible.

Another day we can't go outside because of the caustic fumes around the neighborhood. You stand outside for a couple minutes and it hurts the lungs and you feel it in your eyes...

Chemical smell appears to be emanating from the Howco facility down the street. About a 2 or 3 out of 10 in terms of odor. Slight west to east wind is blowing it to the neighboring block. Smell is no longer discernable down at 13th Ave S on the other side of the pond.

The HowCo Environmental Plant is emanating a strong burning odor again that is instantly noticeable as soon as you walk out the door. There's minimal wind but the smell is bad enough that I went back indoors immediately. From my understanding they are operating without a valid permit so I am unsure how it is legal for them to continue to pollute our air and do nothing to remediate it.

Chemical smell coming from the HowCo facility again today. I walked that section of the industrial corridor on the Pinellas Trail and confirmed that the odor is only present near that facility. How are they still operating and what's being done about it? Is there a way to escalate this to the DEP?

The owner of the house works on cars everyday and sells them. But he's using some type of spray or other strong chemical and the fumes are so strong, I get the worst headaches from the fumes. This is a residential neighborhood and we shouldn't have to deal with fumes like this.

Once again, the air quality is very poor in Childs Park. I could literally write a new request every day about this issue because the gas / oil / chemical smell is happening daily at various times. HowCo continues to operate without a permit and nothing is being done about it. Since this is an oil and gas smell, should this be reported to the local fire department?

Chemical smell coming from the HowCo facility today. Not as strong as recent days but still very nasty and makes it untenable to be outside for an extended period in my yard.
