water leak at the water meter for the property at 3281 E Azalea Dr., Gilbert, AZ 85298.

My wife and I were on vacation when we were notified that a Town of Gilbert staff member was at our house trying to reach us stating we had a "massive leak". He had apparently looked around our home and didn't see anything so assumed that the leak was in the house.
We ultimately tried to contact the Gilbert Water Works staff member to see what more we could find out and as the offices are closed on Friday we contacted the Police Department who dispatched Officer Fisher to our home. He, too, walked around our home and saw no leaks, peered into the windows and saw no leaks and we opened the garage door remotely and he saw no signs of any water damage.
He did notify us that there were water meter issues happening and perhaps this was something we should check into when we return from our vacation.
Our meter read we used 315,000 gallons of water when our average usage is 6-18,000 gallons.
The only unusual thing that happened this Summer was our water irrigation timer we use to fill our pool for 20 minutes a few times a week during the summer was broken during a monsoon by a falling branch from our tree and when we returned home from a previous vacation the water was running. At that time, there was not much of a big puddle and the water was absorbed completely in a matter of hours. I installed a much more substantial unit and we've had no further problems.
Our bill is for $2.838.12 whereas our bill is usually $150-200.00.
We would sure like someone to help check our meter and see what can be done with this absolutely HUMONGOUS bill.

Nothing has changed with the amount of water we have used. We had irrigation specialist come out and they replaced our valve shut off. We had a plumber inspected it. No issues were found. Our water bill is outrageous and does not reflect our usage. This is a household of 2.

Can you please come out and assist because honestly we love our home and our area, but at this rate our water bill is so high that we are concerned about our city, environment, and our overall well-being. This is 8x higher than our average bill. We attempted to call and email you multiple times, with no response.
Just letting you know we had to pull money out of our retirement due to the bills after trying to reach out for a month. ol nl g

We had a massage unexplained water usage increase for a couple of months

Read date:
June -43k (normal for this time of year)
July -61k (NOT normal for time of year)
Aug -80k (extremely higher than normal for time of year)
Sept -43k (normal for this time of year)

The only time our water usage has been this high was when we had a water main break in 2022 and we had that repaired (since that happened, we now check that every week to make sure there are no leaks), and when we over-seeded our large backyard in the winter for our son's weddin and used sprinklers Otherwise we use flood irrigation for our backyard

We had a professional out in July 2025 to do an extensive (and expensive )inspectionof our pool and they found no leaks
Many of my neighbors have also complained about unexplained spikes in usage Could we have someone come out and check?

This broken irrigation control valve cover in a private sidewalk has been needing repair for months. The danger is someone will fall through it. The sidewalk is a popular cut-through between the SanTan Freeway trail and Higley Rd.

No progress seems to have been made despite previous requests for Code Compliance to encourage the property management to fix it.

Could you please try to spark the commercial property owner to action? You will spare our heels from injury.

Outside our church there is a city water metal cover. As attached is leaking on sidewalk and street curb

Concrete cover on city utility access is broken beyond repair It's located in the front yard in the north east corner of the lot at 3967 This utility cover was broken when we purchased the home , but we never went into our front yard so it didn't matter Now we want to enjoy our front yard and this concrete cover postsa hazard Another utility company instructed us it was a city matter Could you replace this or instruct us on next steps? The concrete cover on the south side of Indigo Bay— in our yard and closest to the sidewalk— is cracked and broken. We believe it’s a city utility cement cover that requires replacement. It’s been that way since we purchased the home but it’s become more of a hazard recently when walking nearby. Would love to have someone take a look and either replace this or instruct us on next steps. Thank you!
