ISSUE: During fiber optics install in our neighborhood this week, they cut through our Sewer mainline on property & the fiber optics cable is going through it.
-
Yesterday, we found standing water in the toilet area of one of our bathrooms. Then our other toilet backed up after we flushed. There was also debris/sewage that was on the shower floor in one of the showers.
Since all the fiber optic cable installs were being done in the neighborhood this week, we suspected that had something to do with it so that was our 1st call. But we could only leave a voicemail message and submit a contact request through Tilson's website, which we did both.
Then we contacted Town of Gilbert and someone came by, I explained the issues, showed him video and pictures and he said it sounded more like a sewer issue than a water issue. He checked outside/said he couldn't come inside. He also told me we might need to call a plumber with sewer experience/work. Since he wasn't a sewer worker, I think he also called the Waste Management dept. and said that Tim would come check to see if it was on the Town of Gilbert's side. Tim & another worker came to check and said that it didn't seem to be on the Town's side. They stayed for awhile even when a plumber I had to call came out.
The following are some notes from the plumber: Technician found entire property backed up with sewage, located main line cleanouts in front of property near driveway, cleared out the main line stoppage outside, washed the line by turning on all our water fixtures inside the house and flushing the toilets. Later, he ran a sewer camera to inspect the drain line outside and found it had been cut through and a fiber optics cable is protruding through the main line causing an obstruction. The damage is not normal wear and tear and the drain line is still not functioning properly due to pipe that is cut through sewage main line.
We had to pay for the after hours emergency plumbing service and even though this doesn't seem to be a Town of Gilbert issue, we hope that we could get help to escalate this to Tilson and the other companies handling the fiber optic cable install because the sewer line still needs to be fixed and we would like reimbursement for the out-of-pocket expense we had to pay for the plumber. Thank you.

30 E Vaughn Ave Gilbert, AZ, 85234, USA - GilbertElevator for Hearne Way parking garage next to Culinary Dropout and OHSO was not working over the weekend. These elevators seem to be shutdown often, especially during weekends and there is no signage on each level that the elevators are out of service. Fix this occurring problem and put up more security cameras to catch those that are damaging this public parking structure.

2241 E Egret Ct Gilbert, Arizona, 85234 - GilbertThe same contractor has visited my lawn looking for utilities approximately 15 times in the last several months. Same routine every time. Paint stripes in the lawn. They say they are mapping my utilities under contract with the town of Gilbert. They also say it is in preparation for the installation of high fiber internet service. They are under contract with the Town and therefore are receiving tax dollars. Which city employee is managing this contract and why has it taken them so many times, at taxpayer expense, to complete their work? Thank you. Alan H. Sinclair SR
