    Hello,

My tree needs to be removed. It is drying up and branches has been falling from it. I don't have the money to remove it as I am the only person working and I am leaving pay check to pay check. Does the city have resources in which this tree can be removed for free or very cheaply.

    Thank you so much!
    John Bautista

The Mayor's office received the following email with attachments and is entering 2 separate requests from this one email. One for PD/traffic enforcement and one for streets (signage?)

Subject: Neely Traffic Issues NEED to be Addressed

    Good morning

The subject line of this email should serve as a good indicator of what is about to follow. And, I'm hopeful something will actually be done about it, as are all of the neighbors who live on my street — Larkspur Ct., which is the first street west of the four-way stop at Houston and Burk.

The traffic situation, due to parent drop off and pick up, is untenable. Neely parents routinely disrespect and disregard commonly accepted traffic laws and safety practices by parking along curbs on Houston Ave. right up to Larkspur Ct. and right up to the stop sign at Burk.

What this means, besides it being illegal, is anyone who lives on Larkspur Ct. can not see around the parked cars to exit OUR OWN STREET. Some of us leave for work, and some of us — due to the now limited options in our own neighborhood — have to drive our kids to different schools.

It makes it incredibly precarious for us to pull out onto Houston, if we even can, if anyone even lets us out. Imagine that for one second. And parking that close to a stop sign is just not even legal.

This morning (photo attached) a white Tesla parked as close to the stop sign on Larkspur Ct. as he possibly could. It meant that when I went to pull out of my own street, I couldn't see around it and because of the cars piled up to the west on Houston, I couldn't see around them, either.

When approached about his illegal parking job that clearly disrespects the residents of this neighborhood, he was completely smug. We've seen him before, we've asked him to slow down before....nothing changes.

This happens daily. With him or other parents. DAILY. This particular four-way stop is an accident waiting to happen on a good day, during off-peak hours. It's a mess, as people blow right through it, regularly, or just don't know how to navigate it. There have been several close calls, with cars and pedestrians, many of them children.

Traffic was our biggest concern, two years ago, as a neighborhood when Gilbert decided to transition Houston to Neely. Putting two schools of choice within a short distance of one another had never been done before in this district, but Shane insisted the district would do what it could to mitigate any issues it may cause. I personally asked at the open house about this and was assured it would be addressed, since to that point, the traffic impact had admittedly not been studied.

There are ISSUES. Safety issues, most importantly, that Neely parents won't respect on their own. They've shown it, time and again.

Things that could help the situation:
    1. Traffic control support by off-duty police
    2. Red paint on the curb from the stop sign at Houston/Burk west to the Larkspur Ct. entrance, and again from Larkspur Ct. west to the mailboxes on Houston.
    3. Permanent "No Parking" signs along Houston from the intersection at Burk west to the mailboxes.
    4. Firm communication with Neely parents with repercussions.
Last year, I put notes on cars that were illegally parked or blocking us in our own driveways and watched as drivers crumpled them up and left them on the ground. On the ground!

This year, when school started, I made signs (photos attached) and placed cones out on Houston to deter people from parking there. It seemed to work, but that is something that I don't think is sustainable.

This is a problem Gilbert Public Schools created, with what seems to be zero regard for the people who live here, and it's one that the district needs to solve in concert with Neely.

Please don't pass the buck to the city, either. Work with the city. Find a solution that keeps parents and kids (and crossing guards) safe in this tight area. It's your responsibility.

I hope to receive some kind of response on this. It can't continue.

The pine trees in Spring Meadows Park is lifting my wall. The town replaced this same wall approx.13 years ago. In 2017 I requested to have the tree cut down before this damage took place, but the only thing done was branches cut off the tree. This tree needs to be cut down. My grandchildren are in my backyard often and I don't want the wall falling on them. It also creates a HUGE mess in my pool every year causing me to open my pool filter to remove the mess it causes. If you need the W/R # from 2017, I'll get it for you.

My house butts up against the McQueen baseball park. The city planted a mesquite tree there that needs to be trimmed way back. It is completely over the wall and my backyard. It drops its pods everywhere including getting clogged in my pool filter. My address is 1531 W. Commerce Ave. Every year I have to call about this tree and it just keeps getting bigger.
    Thank you,

Someone has been walking their dogs to this park and picking up their dog(s) waste and leaving the bags there. I have counted OVER 20 bags at that park along the tree line next to Sun View Patio homes and they’ve left them at the edge of the wall near the side walk. Please put a dog waste bin here or a trash can and/or catch the person(s) doing this.
