Remove All Dead Landscaping from the Tierra Verde Bayway Median
Notes:
• The “Tree Issue” category was used, as there was no better selection available for use.
• Mapping shows a single point; however, the areas requiring attention run south from the intersection of Yacht Club Lane, to the intersection of South & West Shore Boulevards... in essence, the medians running the entire length of Tierra Verde.Attached photo is but one example of dead plantings. There exist many hardwood shrubs, bromeliads, and groundcovers... all dead or dying, which require removal.
PLEASE NOTE: per the quote further below, from an FDOT official, Pinellas County IS responsible for this requested work... please do not close this ClickFix until the requested work has been completed. Thank you!
----------------(FDOT Quote Follows -----------------
Following was received via email, 1/2/25, from Michael J. Lenhart, P.E., FDOT - District 7:
“...Center median landscaping maintenance is still passed through Pinellas County, FDOT is performing the mowing.
I (Michael J. Lenhart, of FDOT) spoke to Gina (Gina Harvey, with Pinellas County) and she said the County is planning to remove dead vegetation along Pinellas Bayway SR 679 after they are caught up on hurricane debris removal.
County crews are finishing up hurricane debris removal through Sunday of this week, then will resume normal routine operations on Monday.
The County plans to remove the dead vegetation during their next routine maintenance cycle along the corridor (aka: the Bayway)...”
-----------------(End FDOT Quote)------------------
The poor condition of the Bayway median, through Tierra Verde, has become a major topic with owners and residents of Tierra Verde. Yearly, literately millions of visitors to Fort DeSoto... a Pinellas County premiere attraction, traverse this roadway. Please keep this report open, so that citizens may know plans are underway to restore the median. -

Tree IssueAcknowledged7365 79th St N Pinellas Park, Florida, 33781 - US Congressional District FL10The homeowner came today to look at the house after Helene and prior to Milton. There have been two 80 foot pine trees on that property for more than 30 yrs. Today she decided to hire a tree company and have them cut down. I asked if they were going to remover the massive pile they said yes not very convincingly. As you can see from the picture there is one very large piece sticking up in the air. If this debris causes damage to the near houses this landlord should be held accountable. If you ask me this is a slap in the face to the PCSO and the truck drivers who have been hauling debris from the beaches for the last 48 hours to try and lessen the damage. One last thing they also covered up a storm drain. This street during Helene suffered damage to the inside of our homes from the storm surge.
