Description

Just south of the rail yard and immediately before the bike path bridge at the Barge Canal is a sign that warns of a communications cable along the bottom of the lake and that anchoring should be avoided. Not sure if it's an active cable or not (the sign was recently rebuilt because of the bike path construction with new sturdy posts indicating it's needed) but it is pretty much blocked by tree growth and can't be seen/read by any boaters that might be anchoring. Kind of defeats the purpose if it can't be read.

The small trees need to be cut down or perhaps the sign has become obsolete and could be removed. One or the other seems to be needed.
