I live up on Atwater street and we are have the same problems with constant street racing, running stop signs, peeling out SeeClickFix #39172 Several of us attended the Fair Haven Community meeting at the police sub station here in Fair Haven Last Thursday to voice our concerns and try to get some action. Maybe you and your neighbors could join us next month the first thursday of July at 6pm. The more pressure we put on or Police and elected office we might just get some action.

Unfortunately, there's no way to look at that data in a consistent way that's useful to anyone in the community (e.g., M/V violations are not broken down by type, neighborhood, date...), and without that, there's no way to advocate for better services. This was one of the core requests of the Safe Streets Petition but it has been ignored for 2 years.

I hate to say it, but speed bumps aren't solving anything on Lexington Ave. People are constantly speeding up and down the street late into the night. If they go fast enough, they don't bottom out, so there is no risk to their cars. It really has made no difference. Actually, it is worse this year.

Still no speed bumps between Lewis Park and the intersection of Front and Grand. In one week, there have been two accidents on this stretch. Cars were going so fast that they lost control, ended up on the sidewalk taking out fencing and a tree. Is the city waiting for someone to be killed before something is done?!?!?

Speed bumps have been put in on North Front between Middletown Ave and the stop sign at the Lewis Street park, but none have been placed between the stretch that runs from the park to Grand Ave, We need 2 on this stretch. I speeding is out of control. We have had three crashes due to speeding since October. HELP!!!!

I heard the drag racing that night, but didn't call the police, bec I had no idea where it was happening - I live across the river, and it was hard to tell. People who know exactly where this is happening should please call the NHPD immediately to avoid more property damage, and possible injury or even death. I think you all should seriously lobby for some more speed bumps over there. I avoid Front now, a very pretty street, because I always get tailgated for doing 25 or 30 mph! They put in anti-drag racing barriers by Long Wharf and on River St. because people complained. You have had 3 crashes - you have every right to get together as a group and demand the barriers and/or speed bumps closer to Grand.

Recently, my alderperson told me a speedbump (we really need two) was being placed on Front between the Lewis St Park and Grand Ave. That has not happened. SInce then, we have had another accident, last week. Why is it that many speedbumps can be placed on the section of Front closer to Q Terrace and on Perkins, but NONE ON THE STRETCH THAT HAS HAD THE MOST ACCIDENTS DUE TO SPEEDING?!?!?!?! It makes no sense. Mr City, fix this ASAP.

Last weekend, a 14 year old boy was killed on Front Street - a hit and run. For years, we have been begging for road bumps on this stretch of Front St, to no avail. I have continued to warn that someone would be killed, and now that has happened. Shame on the city for not taking action. Now, maybe speed bumps will be placed on the stretch b/w Lewis Park and Grand Ave before we have another tragedy.

I Live on Front st near Chatham st. The new speed bumps have slowed traffic down and we seem to have fewer cars using Front st as a cut through. I am now able to pull out of my driveway a bit more safely than before. I agree with JC that having speed bumps at that end of Front would slow them down and further reduce cut through traffic. Last weeks accident was very tragic and maybe could have been avoided. Although I believe snow played a major role in that accident, the driver may have been speeding or using Front as a cut through. We may never know.

Still waiting for speed bumps. This summer, the city told me we were second in line for a device to measure speed. Another broken promise. The city of New Haven neglects Fair Haven.

We still have no speed bumps. I have been asking the city for ten years for two speed bumps in this stretch which many treat as a raceway. A First Student bus just flew down the street. I email or send a letter to Dick Miller about every three months. Everywhere else in the city seems to get speed bumps, but not the section that truly needs it and that has been begging for a decade. Maybe it will take another 10 years to get them. Or maybe some neighbors can get together with numerous bags of asphalt.

We finally got the speed bumps. It took over 10 years... but they are here. It has already helped slow cars down to the speed limit!
