Description

Over the weekend, I read an article in the Record Journal that talked about the city purchasing the old Medical Building on Cook Avenue for 700,000. I was puzzled over the fact that the city had enough money to purchase this old building but said there was not enough money to do road repair on Alan Ave. and Johnson Ave. I believe the figure that was quoted was $1m to re-do both of these roads. Well, it seems that $700K is VERY close to being a million dollars isn't it? Why could this money not be redirected into the road repair fund? I am thinking that the town could have taken that building via a lien, eminent domain or whatever and used that $700k to finish the road work?? What does the Town plan to do with that old building? Why in the world was that much money tossed into buying that building when the roads and sidewalks are falling apart on the West Side of town?
