Leave the possum alone, they are harmless.

They are not as harmless you you think. They will attack puppies and kittens and their feces is poisonous to birds. Garbage will also attract them.

I am a wildlife biologist and have done wildlife rehabilitation for over 21 years specializing in opossums. They are the safest of all wildlife, they do not carry rabies or any other diseases. Opossums actually do good... they rid your property of poisonous snakes because they are immune to the venom... Your website you posted is bull...biology students haven't a clue... I specialize in opossums and have for over 21 years. I'm well educated in their medical and behavioral aspects. You are very wrong and causing issues where people will kill or harm them needlessly.
