My argument is based on the assumption that the speed indicator will only register cars in the process of accelerating after the traffic circle. I am doubtful that, unless most drivers are recklessly accelerating hard after the traffic circle they wouldn't see much excess speed above 50km/hr. On the other hand with the down hills at either end of the dip in 32 ave between 140 and 144, they are regularly going to see speeds higher than 60 or even 70 km/hr. Assuming our taxes only allow for limited installation and maintenance of such speed indicators, I felt it would be better placed further west o 32 avenue. Most cars on 32 ave continue to this other stretch where the same speeders will see a higher speed value. The higher the value they see the more likely they are to be guilted in to slowing down.

I have yet to hear from the City of Surrey on this matter.

The traffic speed indicator was removed sometime this past month. Presumably it will be re-purposed to a better location.
