An alternate route is not the answer! Just fix the darned light!

Unfortunately, there is probably going to be a tragic accident at this location before something is done. Just trying to be a good citizen here. Personally I DO take an alternate route when heading in that direction, but I know that many others wrongly assume there is a left hand turn signal and find out there is not one there (after it is too late). Try keeping it civil, please. Just trying to draw attention to a potential problem.

As the traffic volume steadily increases here and with the increase of population density in the area, there will be more accidents at this intersection. This issue is posted several different ways here and should be consolidated into one. It will eventually be a problem, but there are several solutions to prevent the problem right now. Alternate routes would be the safest, as there are several convenient to this area. Rush hour traffic exists throughout the city and drivers old and young should be focused on driving during this period of time as this is when most accidents occur.

In order for me to reach these alternate ways, I have io make a left turn onto Six Forks, and that is even more difficult because of the extremely heavy traffic going south at afternoon rush hour. I don't understand your opposition to a green turn arrow at this intersection of Mourning Dove and Six Forks. Can you please post an explanation!

I agree that forcing a left turn across two lanes of traffic and driving more traffic into neighborhoods would seem to be a strange idea when a simple modification to an existing busy junction which already has a turning lane would solve the problem.

You are absolutely correct I was unaware that there was a turning lane already in place there, a green arrow added to this intersection would make sense. I use that intersection often but never need to make that turn. The suggestion of alternate routes I agree with until there is a better solution in place such as a modification made to this intersection. Young drivers should always be on high alert and avoid problem areas at problem times, and since this is a concern here, an alternative route going out of the way a bit or at a different time would be what I recommend until this issue is properly resolved.
