Thank you for reporting the site to the Town. We will be dispatching our inspector to the site to evaluate the sidewalk. Please allow us up to two weeks to conduct the inspection.
Twice people in my life were injured due to this neglect. I will not be surprised if folks begin submitting medical bills to Hamden as a result of this neglect.
The Engineering Department originally inspected the site on 7/22/2021. We have determined that the sidewalk does need to be repaired. The site has been added to our master list for repairs.
The Engineering Department re-inspected the site on 8/24/2021. Based on our inspection of the condition of the sidewalk, this site has been elevated to our CLAIMS list. We have determined that the sidewalk, several walkouts, and driveway aprons do need to be replaced. Based on current funding, we do not have a good estimate on when the replacement will be conducted, nevertheless, this area must be corrected, and will be done as quickly as I can get additional funding. MGK- Thanks for responding. It's not clear if your mention of "the site" is limited to 126 Circular Ave or extends to Beacon Street ...or beyond, as so much of Hamden Plains has this problem. Can you please clarify? Thank you.
Good Day. What I had recorded for my notes taken during the inspection was approximately 276 feet of sidewalks, many aprons, walkouts, and walkups needed replacement, and the sidewalk was is very poor condition. [Actually, my PERSONAL comments regarding the condition of the sidewalks cannot be relayed in public forum]. I do not believe that length extends to Beacon Street, but up past 146 Circular Avenue, as some sections were acceptable north of that address. I took a total of 46 pictures of the area so proper documentation was available to Hamden Engineering even though only 10 are represented above. If the length of sidewalk I recorded does does seem adequate, i.e. extending to Beacon, please let me know and I will be glad to re-inspect and verify if my inspection assessment is appropriate. Thanks for your assistance. MGK
Please Note: Long stretches of Circular Avenue may very well need repair/replacement (on both sides of the road), as many streets in Hamden are, but we try to focus on SeeClickFix complaints, especially with safety concerns, that are verified through engineering inspection, as funding is always one of our greatest constraints.
Beacon Street is not only mentioned as a SeeClickFix complaint in this thread but long before in its own thread on SeeClickFix; reporting 2 people that I personally know getting hurt. -thank you for your response.
Good Day once more. Thank you for the heads-up. Greatly appreciated. While I am a recently new inspector for the Town of Hamden, and I have been working my way to earlier submitted SeeClickFix complaints, and I have just started wrapping up/re-inspecting the issues recorded in April, I will start on the March and earlier 2021's as soon as possible. The SeeClickFix'es that you may be referring to are: 148 Circular #9494502, 152 Circular #9454932, and the 141 Circular #9378135. These are the only one's still open and I will absolutely make them my priorities to inspect. Thank you for your assistance and your considerations for other affected residents. MGK
