The wait time for the pedestrian crossing was probably tweaked to get a good flow of traffic through the Square now that everything is one-lane. There’s way too much of a back-up towards the river and coming from the Common. What should be lengthened is the time pedestrians are given to cross the street. Traffic needs to flow better because there’s too many buses, delivery trucks, etc that need to run.

One-lane traffic is caused by the construction that has dragged on - on both JFK and Brattle Street. Out of town developers are responsible and are inconveniencing the community they "bought" into for their own profits, profits that will never enter the city or community.

At rush hour the past two evenings the vehicle signal was so long there weren’t any cars driving through anymore….just pedestrians waiting. Agree that the pedestrian signal could be longer and that would help.

Thanks for your report. We've adjusting the signal timing to make the WALK phase come up more frequently at this intersection and some time has been added to the crossing interval.
