Gil I’ve lived in the neighborhood 15 years and cars have not parked from that Conger corner to the underpass the entire time I’ve been here. You’re mistaken or taking 20 years ago?

The only sign that's been there is a no parking here to corner sign and I have seen cars parked there on a lot of occasions. Besides if there was no parking allowed on that side of the street then they would be towed

“A lot of occasions” lol…sure, in the last two weeks.

What about the cars that are parked on Central Ave when people are going to the St John's club and the cars are taking up half of the street

As parking along Lakeside appears to be associated with businesses, let's put in some parking meter stations and charge variable rates for the inevitable parking. People may choose alternate parking, biking, walking, or public transit over having to pay for on-street parking. The fees collected from use of our publicly owned property/streets can be used for our many collective needs.

The issue of curb parking restrictions concerning pedestrian and vehicle safety is related to the level of congestion within an urban area, the type of roadway, and the land use. Low volume areas are usually not considered due to the low number of parked cars and the low number of pedestrians present in such areas. The increased volume of vehicles and traffic on Lakeside Avenue has increased the need for parking; especially in proximity of the new Hula Building at 50 Lakeside Avenue. Given this increased parking need, some vehicles have been parking on Lakeside Avenue adjacent to the rail bridge; however this cross-section of the street was not designed to allow for parking. Due to the limited space DPW Staff is recommending the Public Works Commission approve a parking restriction underneath the rail bridge on Lakeside Avenue. Additionally, to facilitate safe crossing and meet required standards, parking must be removed adjacent to the crosswalk at the Conger Avenue and the Hula parking lot driveway. This would increase sight distance and improve safety at the crosswalk.

The Public Works Commission approved the Staff recommendation to remove parking in this area. The Department of Public Works has resolved this request. Thanks for helping to keep Burlington a great place to live and work.

What about removing parking along central avenue and conger avenue as well? Those streets are very narrow and a lot of times it is hard to get by them. Harrison avenue is another one.

Gil are you saying you want to remove the ability to park in the entire neighborhood on those streets? Not all residents who live in the neighborhood have driveways and off street parking is needed by residents. Removing parking so people can drive even faster won’t be good for residents. If anything residential parking permits may eventually be needed so Hula workers & St John’s Club patrons can’t use those streets for their parking.

I think residential parking stickers should be required because they are in the rest of Burlington
