The need for a traffic light at this location was recorded more that 20 years ago as the Manomet Village Task Force ( which became the Manomet Steering Committee) was first charged with creating a Village Master Plan, This is an overdue safety need. This light is also needed to expedite car traffic at this location. I find it sad and silly that so much money will be spent on the Symes/Simes house when there are more pressing Manomet needs that would benefit more Plymouth people, needs such as the old and weary cry for this light. I know that people will cite grants and diverse sources of the funding of this project. All of these sources eventually trickle back to taxes of one kind or another, taxes being money out of hardworking peoples' pockets- so should not the projects be chosen that the people really want, projects that actually provide benefit on a regular basis to many tax paying residents? The traffic light would do this. mjcalhoun-donelan
You are so right Mary... its cool the Simes house thing being refurbished... but us tax payers here in manomet get nothing out of it... the town is always running around taking care of and cleaning the streets/sidewalks planting plants... ect in Plymouth.... here we get nothing... but a mansion make over? Get real... its pathetic
Ive lived in manomet for goin on 15 years and i dissagree. I dont see the need for lights there. Especially for a seasonal only problem. Yea it gets a little congested at times but 1.1 million dollars! I can think of a few better things to spend that kind of money on. Like how about cleanin up the sidewalk from manomet center goin south to down past briggs field. Its a mess, i walk that area a few times a week with my daughter, the weeds are growing out to the street in a few spots, in another spot the inside half of the sidewalk is covered with dirt about a foot deep. On another note, how about a crosswalk towards the north side of stop and shop near cappys or fapiannos. Theres three within a hundred yards on the south side. How about
spreading them out a little. Theres my two cents.
