Description
Where: Washington SB at Indian School, a bicycle lane/route.
What 1: Loop detector fails to detect bicycles.
What 2: When there are northbound cars in both the straight-ahead and left turn lanes, the signal allows them through without ever giving SB cyclist a green light. It just cycles back to green for E-W cars, forcing cyclist to wait a cycle until car arrives SB or dismount and use beg button.
Solution 1: Fix loop detector so it detects bicycles.
Solution 2: Change light sequencing so SB traffic gets a green light every cycle.

"The city's historically installed detection equipment is rarely sensitive enough to sense nonmetallic bicycles. As new city intersections are constructed, bike specific detection can be installed but it’s not a common maintenance procedure. Placed movement on recall."
